None of these suggestions capture the most bizarre thing about god, he does it in a  loving way. When he kills people, it is for all the right reasons, when he inflicts suffering, it is because he wants us to be free (just not free of pain). I can't for the life of me think of someone who is quite that mad, who insists on being loved, truly adored, and worshipped, under penalty of death. Having said that, CeauÅŸescu had specially fattened cows shipped to wherever he was visiting, to make the famine seem more bearable, so he gets my vote, not withstanding the fact he built the heaviest building in the world, which is awesome.
