Hey there. My name's Carrie. While I was raised Catholic, I've been an atheist for as long as I could actually understand what religion and God were. I guess you could say I'm a semi-closeted atheist. I don't know too many atheists and I'm just looking for some solidarity, maybe a little help with coming out as an atheist. It's not that I'm not proud of who I am, it's just that I care what some of these people think.

Thanks much!

Hi Carrie. Welcome to HAF. I too was raised as a Christian (not catholic) but still close. I also learned early that i was an atheist after actually reading the bible for the first time and realizing a lot of things that did not make any sense to me. I am basically out as an atheist but it took me awhile to be able to tell everyone. To me i don't think people care that much especially as we become more tolerant but i guess it depends where you live. I tell people but don't try to convert them just as i would like it if they don't ramble to me about how i will go to hell etc if i do not believe in god. Anyhoo welcome

Welcome, Carrie... I was raised Lutheran, Mom converted to Catholicism in 1993.  The Catholic mom is MUCH nicer than the Lutheran mom was.  LOL!

Have a great time here! :bananacolor:

Welcome, Carrie. Another former catholic here. Well, technically also a born-again, bible thumping protestant too. But I digress. Welcome!
