Some decomposed creature has washed up on the shores of New York.  They are calling it the Montauk Monster.

Do we have anyone here who can provide an expert opinion?  I think it looks like a decomposed dog and likely isn't worth all this fuss.

I guess the picture is kinda gross, so I didn't link it in case someone would be bothered.

They found a new one.

What did they decide the other one was?

First one was likely a raccoon. This one looks like a bear of some sort. Definitely not an alien. Other than that, I can't say.  :secret:

Meh.  Nothing new here.

I remember reading a great article about dragons when I was younger.
The basic premise was that they were large lizards with adapted digestive systems.
Their stomach's would produce excess hydrocloric acid.  This provided hydrogen gas as a by-product, alowing them to float/fly.  They used their small wings for propulsion.
When they were killed, the excess acid disolved most of them, hence no fossil record.

I'm more impressed by the occasional giant squid carcass that washes up.

These look like small animals that have been in the water for a while.

Or aliens.

I don't know how your getting "raccoon" out of that thing, it's most likely a griffin

First one was a raccoon, this one is probably a dog.  Decomposition distorts carcasses and makes them hard to identify - rotting, flesh contorting and falling off, bloating and insides liquefying....yeah, makes it look weird but nothing special, just a dead dog or some other canine family creature it looks like from the size and construction of the skull portion showing.  It's like that ridiculous thing here in Cuero with the stupid chupacabras thing - it was nothing special...a fox I believe, a dead fox which had an obvious malady.  People let their imaginations stray too often.

I am beginning to agree with Squid's assessment of the first body. I believe the "beak" is what is remaining of the cartilage from the snout. To me, the second animal looks porcine, but hard to tell.

Looks like a Turkey if it weren't for the tiny arm nubs towards the long turkey neck.  Quiet the description from the blogger  of having it smell like garbage...not a very creative soul.  SquidThe cupachabra turned out to be a grey fox with a bad case of the mange which had made the hair fall out and skin/mucous membrane problems.  I saw that during a Monster Questweekend where I learned all about Curio'sgrassman  :P

Having seen numerous animal corpses fished out of Lake Michigan and the pond at my parents' old farm, my guess is dog on this one.  After an animal bloats, decays, and gets nibbled on by fish it looks pretty freaky.
