The Wizard of Metaphors?

This just came to mind. A few months ago, I was watching a wonderful movie, "The Wizard of Oz", when I heard a dialogue that made me think of religion.


(paraphrased, of course)

Scene: Emerald City, Outside the Gates

Gate Keeper: Ain't no one ever seen the Wizard! and no body's gonna! Ain't No ONE, NO HOW!
Dorothy: But if you've never seen him before, how do you know he exists?
etc...


This fits as well with "Oz" threatening them with the fire, and it turns out that there was no Oz, just a man behind a curtain. Aren't the creationists just saying "Pay no attention to the fossils behind the curtain?"
