My Dream Of 1960 â€" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1960_New_York_air_disaster

On the night of Dec. 15, 1960, I had this dream, which came true and which today 48 years later, still has me thinking of what it meant.  I have not been able to decipher why I had this dream, and at which time did not seem to serve any real purpose to anyone, including myself.  The dream goes like this: I had a dream that I was rising towards heaven and I saw what appeared to be the figure of Jesus Christ, blessing the U.S.A.  I saw what seemed to be the map of the world ***(like the World Map in Google Earth) and we were rising exactly over the Gulf of Mexico and I could see the U.S.A. completely (the four corners).  I saw the State of Florida and towards the northeast, New York City.  As Jesus was blessing the U.S.A. and as soon as he finished blessing it (like when you make the sign of the cross) I saw two planes that were flying over New York City, collide.  I saw a flash and then they fell to the ground.  As soon as I saw this I descended to the area of the collision, which seemed to me to be Brooklyn, New York.  When I got to the ground, I saw people lying on the ground that was filled with snow.  They were bleeding and moaning.  As I tried to move towards them to help them I bumped into a huge glass wall that prevented me from helping them.  At that moment I felt completely helpless and very saddened that I could not help anyone and the dream ended there.

The next day, Dec. 16, 1960 I woke up at around 5:00 a.m; took a bath and left for school.  I arrived at my school, Central Commercial High School at around 6:40 a.m.  Classes started at 7:00 a.m.  At Around 12:30 p.m. a teacher was talking to another teacher about a plane crash in the Brooklyn area of New York that somebody had told her about, that had  occurred that morning.  A classmate told me: “Did you hear that?” and I said yes and I told him that I had had a dream of two planes crashing over Brooklyn last night and he said, “maybe that’s the crash you dreamed about!”.  He went over to the teachers and told them what I had said and one of the teachers asked me about my dream and I said yes and she said: “I can’t believe you had this dream, because you look so calm” and she told the other teacher about my dream and she was astonished and then everybody in school came over to me to ask me about my dream.  I didn’t verify anything about the crash and at 1:00 p.m. I took the shuttle train and crossed to the other side of  Manhattan to go to my job at Nu-Dent Porcelain Studios and worked until 11:00 p.m.  I arrived at my house just before midnight and my mother asked me if I knew about a plane accident and I said yes. But didn’t give it much thought.

I felt kind of silly every time somebody asked me about my dream. I didn’t know all the facts about the accident and so I didn’t talk much about it.  I didn’t pay too much attention about it either and when I got to work they were talking about the accident also and still it didn’t get to me until Saturday morning when I saw it in the newspapers.  On Saturday, Dec. 17, 1960 (my birthday) I got up around 6:00 a.m. and quickly went to the store to buy some bread for my mother and to my surprise I saw a newspaper heading in big Red letters that read that two planes had crashed over Brooklyn and I told the lady at the store that I had dreamed of that accident on Thursday night and she said that that was a revelation.  On Saturday I finally told my mother about the dream I had and she was upset and asked me why I hadn’t told her about the dream.  I told her I had forgotten about it until I saw it in the newspapers that Saturday morning.  Then she told all the neighbors and they all came to me to ask me about my dream.  I was somewhat of a loner at the time, just had a girlfriend and we went to church and the movies and that was it.  When we got to church she told everybody about the dream I had and they all came to me to ask.  I was a very timid person and felt bad about so many people around me and then I decided not to talk about my dream ever again.

In my dream of Dec. 15, 1960 I could not help anyone because of a great glass wall that prevented me from helping others.  Maybe at that time I was not ready spiritually and that is why I could not help anyone in my dream.  But now,  48 years later, I feel I can try to help all humanity after what I have read about the Garabandal, Spain events (Visions) in 1961, of the apparition of the Virgin Mary and the “Great Miracle” that is to occur someday soon and especially when these events indicate where the “miracle” will take place and that all “eyes will see” it and there is also a name of a person that is to be cured of his blindness after 61 years.  His name is Joey Lomangino, of Brooklyn, New York who had an accident in 1947 and has been blind ever since.  It has just dawned on me now (2008), that finally everything is all coming together, 48 years after my dream of  Dec. 15, 1960.

I don't know what to say other than...

coincidence.

There is no such thing as premonition or prescience or foretelling anything that will happen.  There is only coincidence.  If god were going to give you a dream, why not also give you a means to help those you dream about rather than leaving you wondering why you dreamt that?  It is not logical or realistic.

The human brain is an amazing thing, far superior to any computer made thus far, far more complex than anything humanity has as of yet manufactured. It's capacity for pattern recognition and data correlation are amazing, but it's these very strengths that make it so horrible at dealing with random coincidence. You had a dream about a plane crash, which then happened. Several of the items within your dream matched up, and I will most certainly concede this, however it is not signs of prophetic dreaming. Very few people maintain clear recollection of their dreams for very long after they wake up, afterwards if you try to remember the dream your mind either consciously or subconsciously fills in details based on other information as you try to remember it. This is your brain performing it's function, taking information (the remembered bits of the dream) and fitting it together with other information to produce a whole picture, a whole scenario. You may say this is all fine and dandy, but what are the chances that you could have a dream even remotely similar to the events the very night it happened? Keep in mind countless people that night were dreaming, so statistically many people were bound to have matching dreams, you were one of those people, and you also happen to be religious, so you were one of the ones to attach significance to the similarities.

As an example of the power coincidence can have, I give you the twin towers exploding when a plane hit them:
http://www.snopes.com/rumors/thecoup.asp

You have any idea how many conspiracy theories this set off?

As a final piece of coincidence, we're talking about dreams, I brought up the twin towers, and in that very snopes article I just noticed that there's a 2nd cd cover given with the word dreams in it's title. It depicts the twin towers burning. Coincidence? I think so.

Futurism is a hit-and-miss philosophy. Some of them are dead on, many are way off. For every correct prediction, there are a thousand "in ten years, all cars will fly" predictions.

I'll give you an example: In 1999, I said that the president that would be elected in 2008 would be a Lincoln-esque liberal. God had nothing to do with it. It's called educated intuition. Of course, I thought we'd be out of the Middle East by now and into South America. Turns out I was wrong about that.

How about this: in the next 20 years, we will move out of the Middle East and into South America, under the excuse of dealing with illegal drugs, to take oil. After oil is gone, the US and China will have a nice long cold war.
I want bad people to look forward to and celebrate the day I die, because if they don't, I'm not living up to my potential.

Warning this guy is a total SPAMMER:

He has posted this simultaneously at the Atheistic Forums and at the Atheist Forums.

In both cases I wrote the following, "Question: How would anyone be able to verify your story? In essence, given that you are advancing a rather incredible tale with what appears to be religious connotations, why should we accept you are telling the truth?"

I also predicted he would post at Happy Atheist Forums and ... ooh look!

I'm guessing this is just a serial spammer, posting a spiritual urban legend about this dream. But I'll leave it up for a few days, just for fun.

Why do spammers have to make such walls of spam?! Since when are a couple of sentences of total incoherence not enough!?

Maybe these visions and "miracles" to  be, were "false prophecy".  Time will tell and this time it shouldn't be a long wait.
Let's see if it happens or not.

Well, Asmodean in his boredom (not really - I'm reading for exams) has done a bit of research into this character's digital footprint and it seems to me that "not long ago" is more than two years back at least  :pop:

This was posted on Jun 15 2006, 10:04 PM according to the forums I got it from. The name is the exact match with that he provides in several other places even though the screen names are slightly different. I call it a match, I do.

But, in the near future I will have to say their names so that this practice can be stopped at its roots. This is the only place in the world where teachers become Millionaires if they belong to the Commonwealth Party (PPD) as leaders. These leaders have maintained a high level of poverty so that Puerto Rico cannot become a State of the U.S. Congress should investigate how these funds are being used here, because these funds come from the Hard working American Taxpayers who are not aware that their tax dollars are being wasted here. We are planning on opening a WebSite showing the ghastly conditions Puerto Rico is in. I made the incriminating part bold. Do many atheists go around saying that?

Yeah, I've had visions too. They always happen when I'm wide awake, doing some trivial task and not thinking about anything much, when in less than a split second I have a vision which, in the vision, lasts anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour. But when the vision is over, there's never been more time passed than the amount of time it takes to blink.

The visions are always of the same subject matter too. I'm somerwhere frosty. Cold. Up north or in the arctic circle. There's either a polar bear or a wrinkled ol man wearing robes, and for some reason there are three suns aligned in a column in the sky. They are not hot however, and seem to be radiating a type of icy coldness. Everythings filled with permafrost. cold.

I've tried to find out what three icy cold suns arranged in a column might mean in various mythologies, but I'll be damned if I could find it. There's no mention of it in any mythologies I've ever checked on.

And no, I don't take this to mean much. It hasn't come true. yet.   ;)

Well I am satisfied that you are a very good researcher.  You are very smart, but two years ago is not a long time in the sense that "not too long ago I was an Atheist".  I've been in and out of atheism many times over.  Sorry that I am not the perfect "Atheist".  If nothing happens I will go back again.  I am just giving it one more chance.
