Okay, so I'm off at college, but since I'm so close to home, I just go back home on the weekends.  This means that, even though I'm atheist, I keep up appearances by going to church.  I'm not going to deal with all the flak that my parents are going to give me if I don't have to.  So today I'm talking to a friend after the service and he takes me aside and says to me: "Don't tell anyone, but I don't really believe in God anymore."  I couldn't have been happier.  Finally!  Someone opening their eyes!  I asked him why he came to that conclusion.  He said "It all makes sense from the inside out, but once I looked at religion from the outside, it all falls apart."  We talked for almost half-an-hour.  As it turns out, he thought I was still a Christian (I guess that means I'm still keeping up appearances) and he wasn't going to tell me, but he had to tell someone.  He was so excited that he had someone to talk to.  I'm going over to his house next weekend and I'm taking my laptop.  It has all sorts of e-books on evolutionary biology and Christian fallacies.  I can't wait!

One less in the refectory's closet is a good thing.  Congratulations to your friend.

Congrats on finding a friend with similar (non-)beliefs.  It's so nice to have someone like that to talk to about the real stuff. That's hard to find these days.   :banna:
