Hey gang,

I'm out in LA.  Things were a bit quake-y for a while this morning.

No damage, everyone ok (tho the cat is a bit freaked).

Shook the house for about 15 seconds.

Funny thing is I was shaking a bag of microwave popcorn at the time - didn't know there was so much power in those little things!

Here's the CNN page:

Hope everyone else is ok,

Well, Joe, you know the secret of comedy...

Looks like you got your timing just right with that popcorn.  :pop:

Glad there was no serious damage. I hadn't heard about the quake yet. Just saw that it was the biggest in about 4 years. Yeah, I guess that got everybody to sit up and look around alright!

Loffler

I work in the Paramount lot in the heart of Hollywood.

I was on the toilet when it happened; somehow I missed it. When I came out everyone was asking if I thought it was a 4.8 or 5. I said "Was what a 4.8 or 5?" They thought I was kidding.

Meanwhile my fiance calls and even my freaking dog felt it.

That'll teach you to have that double-stuffed bean burrito for lunch!  ;)

Californians don't get out of bed for anything less than a solid 6.5 (about the equivalent to the Northridge quake back in 1994).
I want bad people to look forward to and celebrate the day I die, because if they don't, I'm not living up to my potential.

An earthquake would totally freak me out.   :pop:

Seriously, I'm glad everyone is okay.

I've recently tried to help my dog get over his fear of earthquakes by giving him a treat every time it happens. I'm hoping that it'll only take a few more before he starts panting and his tail starts wagging and he follows me during an earthquake. If he's more calm, it'll be better in case we get a real earthquake (8.0+) and I need to get him to safety.

We had one in Indiana not to long ago two months ago I believe.I was in bed felt it but went right back to sleep. Not to common here but had enough to not freak when it happens.

There was some damage not to far but no one was hurt.A building has the bricks shaken from it.But nothing a little hard work didn't fix.I will have to tell my boys that so they don't flip out next time.Mother nature at work!
