Bluenose

Attention all UK HAFers,

Bluenose is currently near Yeovilton on account of how that's where the Fleet Air Arm museum is.  I'll be catching up with some friends later this week then I'll be heading for points north.  If I have not already contacted you and you think you can stand a visit from a mad Aussie, PM me with a phone number and I'll call you.  If I have already spoken to you, I'll be making further calls as I work my way round the country.  Actually, if I have already contacted you, it might be an idea to PM me anyway, in-case I've forgotten and/or lost your number of some other dumb thing...  Hey, I'm only a poor colonial, after all...

For those that are interested, I haven't yet decided if I like English beer, I think what I've had so far, on the whole, would be a lot better served much colder.  More research may be required. ;)

However, the Guinness passes all the tests!

Most barmen/women I've encountered make a decent gin and tonic but no one seems to have heard of a lemon, lime and bitters (the best thing to have when your not having a drink for boring reasons like you're driving).  I've had to school a few in the arcane art of making them.

  • Squirt a moderate amount of Angostura Bitters around the inside of a tall glass (pint glasses are good)
  • Add a measure of lime cordial to the glass
  • Add ice and top up with lemonade
  • Enjoy

Well, that wasn't too hard was it?  ;)

Oh, and the Laphroaig continues to be perfectly acceptable. 8)
