A Steve Jobs biography (I don't usually read biographies, but every one I've read so far has left me pleasantly surprised).

'Best book' is indicative that there are good chances I will like it then.:D As soon as I peel away from the computer screen...

...what did y'all get for Christmas?

It's been a very off year for my family -- partly due to my granddad's failing health -- so most people really weren't up for anything, including gift giving.  However, I think because he was feeling guilty about making everyone cancel Thanksgiving and Xmas, granddad did send me a check for $100.  He calls it a universal gift card.   The minute the bookstores open tomorrow, I am there.

I mostly got gift cards, chocolate and wine. Which is pretty much exactly what I wanted  ;D

We gave our little boy a play kitchen set and he loves, loves, loves it. I think that was the best part of Christmas this year.  :D

But, we missed the point the whole way along; It was a musical thing and you were supposed to sing, or dance, while the music was being played.

I'm hoping for an AppleTV.

We bought Apple TV a couple of months ago.  I love it!  I like being able to share our pics with friends and family over the big screen, using the iPhone as a remote....and of course airplaying anything from the Macs or iphone up to the TV is cool too.

For Christmas I received, shoes, jacket, some 501 jeans (4 pair), various shirts, iPad 2 (with leather cover), 55" LED 3D TV (with 4 3D glasses), a Mini (Cooper) ball cap and an iHome bedside clock/radio thingy.

3D TV viewing is pretty cool, but 3D movies is amazing!  I didn't think it would be so good, but it is really good.  I didn't give much thought to buying a 3D TV thinking that 3D is just a fad...it probably is but I guess I'll enjoy it as long as it lasts now.

I think it isn't a fad, though I don't have numbers to support it. I think, much like you, many people just got a 3D set up as a gift. The install base is growing. More people are watching (or at least not avoiding) 3D in the theaters. Handheld devices will eventually be 3d- think about an iPhone/iPad OS that displayed your apps and stuff in a 3d display! I look forward to how far they're going to be able to push the technology.

Maybe, that's why the install base isn't seemingly growing because there's no time to adapt before the next best thing is out.

I got Every Man Dies Alone by Hans Fallada, and The Science Fiction Hall of Fame Volume 2  from my dad. He gives me a Fallada novel every year once it's translated from German into English, which makes my mom upset b/c she thinks I read too many depressing books in the first place.

My mom gave me a Fitbit activity/fitness wireless monitor, so I guess she means to counter the early 20th century German literature with exercise. I'm thankful for both. Nothing keeps away the Christmas cookies like a pedometer and gut-churning novel.

The grandparents got our kids tickets to Disney World. Did you know they don't serve beer at Disney? I need a minimum of five beers just to get through the first minute of "It's a Small World..."

Setting new personal records here - I got a book about diving, a whole load of chocolate products, which I don't really like, a PS3 game and smokes.

Do you dive, Asmo? SCUBA, surface supplied, etc?
