Excellent shots AD!

Looking at these now posted, the reflection shot shows up really dark.  There is more detail in the pool area of the shot on the OG pic.  The other is darker too.  Oh well.

Thx Tank.

Some of my kit. This is a ring flash on a specialist 100mm f2.8 macro (high magnification close-up) lens.

I used it to take these:

A dead Bumble Bee I found when walking the dogs.

Fun with Flashlights and time exposures at Joshua Tree, CA.

My son held a flashlight and posed.  It was pitch-black that night and it was difficult for me to get an accurate focus on him.  I was about 50ft away or so from him.  Not bad of the background shot of the Milky Way, though...IMHO.

I had another flashlight pointed at him from the left of this image.

Here's another shot at Joshua Tree simply using the moonlight for a time exposure.

One more for today.  If you refer back to the reflection image of the Mamayev Statue post, you'll notice an orange glow at the center right of the image.  This is the glow of the room of the Eternal Flame to remember the fallen during the Battle of Stalingrad.  The panels on the wall list the names of the officers that died in that battle.  They encircle the flame all around.  I counted the names on one panel, but I cannot remember how many each named.

I dabble in "photography" and took lots of pics on a month-long trip to Volgograd (Stalingrad) Russia.  I visited the Mamayev Monument which commemorates the Battle of Stalingrad.  It's an amazing piece.  Lots of pride for the Russians.

Terrific idea, and yes, an excellent capture of the Milky Way!

That ring flash only cost £65 ($100) and it does do a pretty good job, although the lighting can be unnatural at times and particularly obvious on shiny subjects like ladybirds.

Ring tailed lemur at Bristol Zoo. They have a walk in cage and the lemurs pretty much ignore the humans.

That's a great price. Unfortunately, the cheapest one I've seen that will sync up with my Nikon D3S is $379. And that's going with off-brand Sigma ring flashes.

The Lemur photo is top notch. Absolutely perfect.
