I can't remember if I have ever seen Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House. I will have to ask the wife, regardless I will probably watch again or for once very soon.

You love Cary Grant, you'll love this.  Plus Myrna Loy and Melvyn Douglas, it's pretty much a guaranteed good time.

QuoteBy the way, netflix sucks. They don't have the above movie or a New Leaf streaming. They need to remind me soon why I subscribe to their service.

Well, that saves me the bother of giving them a try.  Thanks!

There mail order selection is fantastic, but if you want only streaming, I think it is a waste of money. They do have Faulty Towers though, which is one of my favorite shows. I actually think they do a better job with tv streaming. I've been watching Psych via netflix recently.

Well, how old do you mean? Some favorites of mine are from the age of the dinosaurs, if you ask my two sons, who are in their mid-twenties, E.G.: Blade Runner, 2001 A Space Odyssey, even my all time fave, Apocalypse Now. Even Star Wars is old by now. I'm a 'boomer', so my more influential movies are from the '60s and '70s. The Birds, Help, Psycho, Rosemary's Baby, The Exorcist, The Godfather, Two Hundred Motels. More recent 'old' movies that just blew me away: The Deer Hunter, Platoon, Contact. It's always hard for me to cut my favorites lists for movies, albums, etc down to five or ten. But it's always fun to compare notes.

All of my fav movies are from the 90's- early 2000

-Ace Ventura: pet detective

-Girl, interrupted
-Battle Royale (jp)
-Jurassic Park
-Gohatto (jp)
-Transparent (jp)
-Interview with the Vampire
-Storm Riders (ch)
-Bangkok dangerous (thai)
-A man called hero (jp)

To name a few. (it's after 1AM here)

Homer:"No! Faith is what you have in things that don't exist. Your awesomeness is real."

"I was thinking that perhaps this thing called God does not exist. Because He cannot save any one of us. No matter how we pray, He doesn't mend our wounds.

The only "old" movies I can think of off the top of my head is Casablanca and a couple Laurel and Hardy's and Abbot and Costello's and Martin and Lewis.
I like all the Three Stooges shorts. I'm fairly sure the new movie will be a flop (slapstick is so 2000 and late), but I'll go see it anyway.

Some of you mentioned some I like, Dr. Strangelove, Kelly's Heros, etc.

How about
Dr. Zhivago
Lawrence of Arabia
Mary Poppins
The Ten Commandments
The Birds
The sound of Music
Bridge on the River Kwai
Ben Hur
The Searchers
The Blob
The African Queen
High Noon
Shane

If I concentrate on the 60's and 70's, this list would be quite large.
The essence of the mind is not in what it thinks, but how it thinks. Faith is the surrender of our mind; of reason and our skepticism to put all our trust or faith in someone or something that has no good evidence of itself. That is a sinister thing to me. Of all the supposed virtues, faith is not.

Hmm. I like a lot of the older Adam Sandler movies, especially Happy Gilmore and Mr. Deeds. I also like Christmas Vacation.
