My personal take is that they are happier. A true religious person have this deep-seated faith that nothing can or wil go wrong, and even if something does, there are a higher power that will assist him to get through any difficulties.
I am a right-wing, conservative, agnostic scientist who thinks that the spotted owl taste like chicken ...
