I'm glad I'm not going potty. I love Pink Floyd. Dark Side of the Moon and Animals are two of my most often played albums.

Without Jazz you don't have albums such as those. The first thing I think of when listening to the music of Dark Side of the Moon is that it reminds me a lot of Sun Ra.

Then I shall have to go and find some Sun Ra!

I have a feeling it wont be your thing. As one person said about him in a BBC documentary "he was perfect for the subject case of an episode of the X Files". Its hard to find his good stuff as you have to wade through a lot of rubbish here is a better track of his that I can think of of the top of my head Sun Ra - Door of the Cosmos.

Nope. You're right not my thing. I made it to 56 seconds before it almost physically hurt to keep it on. Very odd. But my reaction was almost nauseated by it.

Same for me. I really can't stand it either.

I doubt everyone on this board will ever agree on muscial taste. Except Creed. Everyone knows they suck.

Yeaaaah.  (I said that like Creed.  You know how they do.  "Yeaaah".)  Haha I crack myself up.  Also, Creed sucks.

Oh boy, let's not bring up Creed or Nickelback xD

So every year, the National Football League (aka US football) holds a game on Thanksgiving Day in Detroit. Last year they decided to have Nickelback play at halftime, and in response, a bunch of Detroit Lions fans started a petition demanding that Nickelback not be allowed to play. Over 55000 people signed it. Sadly, Nickelback still played, but at least Detroit tried.

wow, they sure did try!

They're totally generic and Chad Kroeger has the charisma of wilted lettuce.
I'm sorry they're Canadian.  :(
"We've thought of life by analogy with a journey, with pilgrimage which had a serious purpose at the end, and the THING was to get to that end; success, or whatever it is, or maybe heaven after you're dead. But, we missed the point the whole way along; It was a musical thing and you were supposed to sing, or dance, while the music was being played.

They are an unoriginal, uninspired, corporate manufactured rock band that has recorded nothing of musical value since the day they arrived on the scene.  Every song may as well be the same song.  In short... Nickelback sucks.

First, because of this.  ;D

I don't like them because they sound the same on their songs, have generic music and generally seem to be a bunch of douchebags, especially the lead singer. It's become almost a meme to hate on them though.

Haha I knew it! he was very far out, even in terms of freeform Jazz but his influence was massive on rock in the late 1960's and early 1970's. But in terms of Jazz that the uninitiated may enjoy have a listen to this Alice Coltrane - Turiya and Ramakrishna, I listen to a lot of "strange shit" so I don't know if that would even be appealing in anyway.

Eh, I'm not sorry. :) I'm in the small minority that doesn't hate on them. I actually like them. Their video for 'Savin' Me' is interesting, I think: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fyopRENTtq0 If you'd like to, watch it with the sound off. It's about how long we have left in this life. It's cool.

And even if some of their stuff is 'generic', well, an awful lot of pop and rock sounds generic.

But I did have to LOL at the 'charisma of wilted lettuce' bit.
