Hello. My name is Carley and I just signed up here. I'm 35, married, Mom. I have a very limited Christian background (Episcopalian). It never made much sense to me, and I didn't really have much struggle shedding the little bit of faith I was supposed to have. I don't feel a need to change other people's ideas of religion - if they believe, that's fine. As long as they don't get preachy with me (which they tend to do), I'm ok. I live in the South, so atheism isn't accepted here. I'm trying to raise my children to find their own religious path. They're young, so no real direction yet. I'm hoping to hear some interesting exchanges and meet new people. I tend to be fairly conservative, but I try not to judge others.

Hi Carley

Well you've come to the right place for a non-preachy atmosphere, as it's against the rules  ;D
We have quite a few people in the 'Bible Belt', it makes me wonder just how many real Christians there are there sometimes. It's obviously fear/peer presure that keeps a lot of people from expressing their true feelings. Hopefully America will one day live up to its claim to be a country of truly free speech.

Thanks for making the effort to sign up and join in.

Welcome to HAF.

Regards
Chris

Hello Carley, we don't have moms here, just mums but I think the job description is pretty similar.

Greetings and welcome, Carley, and Happy Xmas.  We do, in fact, have several mothers of young children here.  Maybe in time we'll have to start a junior section.

Thanks, everybody. Funny you should mention the status of Christians in the Bible Belt. When religion comes up, I often hear, "Mama would kill me if she heard me saying this, but I'm not so sure I believe..." Fear of Hell is big around here, so I think a lot of people are afraid to let their mind wander.
