It was one of the better investments the government of the US ever made, in my opinion, providing the world with knowledge, and beauty such as we had not encountered before. It will be a terrible shame when it likely dies from neglect.

Definitely. It's a privilege to be able to see these things today :)

Here's a site containing 40 astrophotographs taken with the Hubble telescope.

One of the coolest IMO is the Pillars Of Creation, of the Eagle Nebula.

The Hubble is some of the best money ever spent on a scientific endeavour in my opinion. That and the voyage of the Beagle :)
