Hey All: I'm new!

Hello all, a little but about myself, I'm 17, but I guess growing up I've never been able to believe in the religious views, apparently when I was very young, I said to my dad "I don't believe in Father Christmas(Santa), because I don't see any evidence for his existence" I guess that sums up what I've always been like, even from a young age.

I went to a Christian school and sort of believed in God, but I feel like even from a young age I was always atleast an agnostic, I've always been quite logical and the thought of a magical God never sat right with me. So I sat through the hyms and the sermons, not really believing what I was hearing, even though I really wanted too. I mean what kid doesn't want to go to heaven? (I now realise that this is the vulnerable mental state religious groups use to indoctrinate children)

I accepted I was fully athiest at about 14/15, but as time goes by the more ridiculous the concept of religion seems, and I guess I have become more and more outspoken on my views on life, having debates with my theist friends. I'm about as Athiest as you can be. Completely rejecting any notion of a deity. I have a passion for the sciences (Currently taking Physics, Mathematics, Biology and Chemistry at A Level) and hope to become a doctor.

Anyway It's nice to meet you all and I look forward to debating with you.

I don't remember believing in Santa but presents were more evidence than the other guy offered.

Even as a child I guess I saw through the lies with simple logical questions. How can one man deliver presents to every child on Earth? Why do bad kids still get presents? Why do kids in Africa not get presents? How does no-one see him, if you're awake do you still get presents?

I came to the conclusion that it had to be my parents and snuck in to the front room when I was 8-9 to check, and there were the presents laid out, despite my parents being awake. I find it funny how you can bring down Religion with simple logic like that too, religious people are almost like children in a sense, or as the Bible refers to them; "Sheep"

Neither did I, tho my brothers did -- not really sure how that happened.

If you teach a child that something exists, then they will oftentimes believe it.  Once they get into all the stories and things, then it seems real to them.  And you can use all kinds of mental machinations to explain things which seem to be unbelievable or contradictory, or they just believe parts of the Bible and consider other parts stories, for some.
