I would recommend "The God Delusion", by Richard Dawkins, wich is a great writer!

I've recommended it before in another thread and I'll recommend it again:

Atheism: A Very Short Introduction...

It's written by English philosopher Julian Baggini, a great guy who's written some other really interesting and accessible stuff about philosophy. It's part of the Oxford University's "Very Short Introduction" series, which have all been fantastic in my experience.

This book probably won't tell you much that you don't already believe anyway, however it might help to cement your arguments. But the main thing is that it's fantastic for giving to theists and agnostics in order to subtly lead them down the trail to deconversion. It's written very well and in plain English and it isn't snarky / doesn't talk down to theists like Dawkins or Harris. It just tells them straight up why there are no good reasons to believe. Also, it's very small in size and thus portable, which is always good for lending out books to people -- the last thing you want is to offer someone a really great book knowing full well it's an enormous daunting looking tome that's going to take them until next Christmas to read! If they are reasonable about questioning their beliefs they won't be hesitant in giving this one a chance.

In conclusion: add this book to your atheism library, I highly recommend it. File it under 'atheist evangelism'.

im suprised that it took so long to get the god delusion recommended.  That one is a great book and its helped me in many debates. The writing is very strong and he uses a lot of scientific big words but still VERY good. Im also about half way through "end of faith" by sam harris and that one so far is good also.
