nah, J/K. I'm certain someone has probably discussed this before my arrival to the forum, but it makes me chuckle, so I'm inclined to share.

No, your eyes don't deceive. Flat. Earth. It explains why no one found my bottled message that I tossed into Chesapeake Bay so many years ago. The only thing I've found harboring more untapped intellegence than this is the Hollow Earth Society. Rational science is boring. Screw facts!! Embrace the ridiculous!!

Just skimmed over the site's content and...

Is he for real or is he just resurrecting some old ass organisation in order to name himself the head cheese..?

I'm pretty sure that the following has been mentioned here before too, but this thread might serve as a compilation of a certain species of Christian "science."

QuoteFrom GalileoWasWrong.com:

Galileo Was Wrong: The Church Was Right is one of the most unique and penetrating books you will ever read. Now complete in Volumes I and II, authors Robert Sungenis and Robert Bennett take you on a tour of science and history the likes of which you would have never believed possible unless it were told to you in detailed and graphic form. Has modern science led us down the primrose path and convinced us of something that they cannot prove and that is in actuality false? Were the Fathers, the Medievals, our popes and cardinals of the 17th century correct in believing that the Earth, based on a face value reading of Scripture, was standing still in the center of the universe? Come with an open mind and allow these two authors to show you facts and figures that have been hidden from the public for a very long time. This is a page turner that you will find hard to put down, once you get riveted by the astounding material these authors have assembled for you. Prepare yourself, however. Your world will be rocked, literally and figuratively. Not only will you see from Volume I how modern science has documented for us in bold fashion that the Earth is motionless in space and occupies the center of the universe (yet have done an equally remarkable job in keeping these important facts out of our educational system), you will now see in Volume II how deeply the popes of the 17th century were involved in condemning heliocentrism, guiding the process step-by-step and finally castigating it as "formally heretical."

It will come as no surprise that Sungenis is also a strong opponent of the theory of evolution. I don't know the position of Bennett (who supposedly has a PhD in physics) in regards to the theory of evolution.
"Religion is fundamentally opposed to everything I hold in veneration — courage, clear thinking, honesty, fairness, and above all, love of the truth."
— H. L. Mencken

What could Galileo have known, with his stupid "observations" and "heliocrap"?? This stuff, this is real science. I know, because they have T-shirts. Galileo...no shirts.

You should also look at how they explain planes that fly north.

I want one of those T-shirts!
And I love their motto "IN VERITATE VICTORIA" ("Victory in Truth")  :o

Or we could really screw with people and be Flat Earth Atheists. Just make up this completely retarded but elaborate story supporting our cause. Kinda like Mormons. We can even make our own shirts. And maybe some decoder rings.

oh dear, they have a forum (mind you they probably think the same thing about atheists!)

Wish I had more time to look at it now, maybe tomorrow, I'm intrigued about how they explain the universe. One little bit I did see was a debate on whether the Sun was spherical or a flat disc too  :D Really shouldn't mock the afflicted...

I've skimmed through a few of the threads. VERY worth the read. There's nothing remotely intelligent in there but my, oh my, are there some fun frivolous facts.

I actually subscribed some time ago.  :-\

I'll mention that some people are actually there just to practice their debating skills and turned a good portion of the flat earth society site into a parody.

There are, however, the inevitable true believers.  ::)

there are some properly insane people on that site. Just had a quick look, and one person, called 'levee' is not only a flat Earther but he's also claiming that human history didn't exist before the 18th century  :o :o :o He claims the following (his use of capitals not mine);

'The destruction of Pompeii by the eruption of Vesuvius actually happened in the 18th century, and not in the year 79 AD.'

'The same people who thought up the round earth fairy tale ARE THE SAME conspirators who invented a fictional history, prior to 1720 AD. '

'there were NO HUMAN SETTLEMENTS PRIOR TO 1700 AD IN SWITZERLAND, and that all major gothic buildings (including the Bern cathedral) were built after 1730, and that all "medieval" documents kept at the Abbey Library were in fact forgeries belonging to the 18th century'

'All heavenly bodies are flat disks'

'More extraordinary proofs that the eruption of the volcano Vesuvius that destroyed Pompeii/Herculaneum took place in the 17th century AD'

'In our radical new chronology, the Old/New Testaments were written in the period 1715 - 1720, after the crucifixion of Iesous Christos in 1715, at Troy/Constantinopole.'

'Ancient Rome, Greece, Egypt, India, Sumer, Babylon, were all invented in the 18th century by Joseph Scaliger and the Jesuit priests'

'I fully believe that the actual duration of our world history is not more than 500 years old (100 years for the antediluvian period, and 400 years for our history)'

there is a whole world of wrongness out there!
