I want them to do another "Idiot Abroad."

I don't like Ricky Gervais, I think he's a pompous prick and if Karl is as dumb as is made out he's simply an unwitting stooge for Gervais's amusement, if not, it's just a set up for Gervais to pontificate. Thanks for posting the clips, they simply confirmed for me what a despicable arrogant pig Gervais actually is.

Even if Karl is really that dumb and it isn't simply an act, Gervais is helping him make easy fucking money. Karl was paid to travel around the world and make funny and stupid comments about other cultures. So I wouldn't say he is simply a "stooge for Gervais's amusement." They seem to have a symbiotic relationship and I find both funny.

Personally, I think it is an act. I think Karl is a comedian first, and an idiot second. I hope that makes sense.

If they can make a living out of it then great, good luck to them  ;D Personally I have a huge aversion to 'victim humor'. I'm not sure why it just rubs me totally up the wrong way. It's possibly that when I take a personality test I invariably come out with a 'mentoring' outlook and making somebody look stupid, for whatever reason, is just the total antithesis of mentoring somebody.

I personally have always enjoyed that type of humor. I also find really stupid people hilarious, otherwise it would just anger me. I completely understand where your coming from though.

On an interesting subject about the above comments, There has been alot of skeptical people on him. Well here is my view on this one, aswell as what Ricky and Steve have said against claims that Karl is just a charachter, i can simply add that I have been to Manchester (Karl's home city) many many times to visit my friend, and in her area where she lives, which is a kind of working class area, its amazing how many people i have come accross who are simular to Karl in the regards of his odd thoughts and petty minded ways, and seems that many of who i have met in these areas, like Karl didnt seem to gain very much education from school and according to the kinda culture alot of Mancunians have (mainly in working class areas) the way they communicate to each other, i just cant see that its suprising that Karl is for real

So i do beleive Karl is pretty much for real, but at the same time, i can say he's nothing new LOL

I like Karl too. I saw some of his world trip. He's the exact oposite of Micheal Palin  ;D

I don't think Karl Pilkington is an act in the same way as AL Murray's pub landlord is.  But I do think he has a certain type of dry sense of humour.   So he is daft in the same way as Les Dawson was a terrible pianist....if that makes any sense.

It makes sense but it sort of implies that Karl is putting on an act as Les Dawson could play the piano very well, he just chose not to for comedy effect.

Yeah I'm from Manchester and it is a very working class mentality that you find to be like Karls, especially with his generation. I have never questioned if he is legit or not as I have met many with the same outlook, the only thing that sets him apart from the vast majority of those people is that he isn't aggressive or easily angered.

What I mean is that it isn't scripted.  I doubt that Karl could be that saft and be a radio producer at the same time.  I think it is just his style of comedy.
