Hello everyone, my name is Joey and I am 22 years old. Currently, I am pursuing a degree in Philosophy at a Campus somewhere in the middle of America.

The main reason that I was attracted to this forum: I am an atheist!  ;)

When I was in my teenage years, I was kicked out of a Church because I told a person that they didn't understand a word that they were reading in the Bible- which is full of wickedness...

Lately, I have been trying to have intelligent conversations with people about my beliefs, but I always end up getting threatened or told that I am going to hell; which isn't a surprise to me because I have heard it for years now, but I thought that I still thought that giving it another try wouldn't hurt.

In my spare time, I like to go to Borders because I am a totall book nerd!!!

Hey Joey,
Welcome from a fellow book nerd. Even though Barnes and Noble is my drug of choice, I hope we can still get along.  :) I applaud that you still take up the debate; many young people decide to hold on to their beliefs in silence after a few bad experiences conversing with Christians.

As you say, it isn't surprising.  The "middle of America" isn't known for its acceptance of atheists.  HAF isn't the middle of America, so the threats and predictions of hellfire should be less common in the conversations here that you might get into.

I hope you enjoy your time reading and posting here.

You wicked, wicked boy.
Hell awaits, my friend.

Jesus saves, but only if you are Good, and believe in Him. God loves, but if you don't believe He will send you to eternal damnation, to be tortured for eternity.

I have frequented a few forums and this one is pretty damn cool. Nasty people tend to get kicked out or get bored and leave as they get ignored.

Welcome,Joey!  I'm OK about you not believing in Jebus, but I trust you do have faith in our Noodly Lord the Flying Spaghetti Monster.  May you be bathed in His sauce and touched by His Noodly Appendage.  ;D
