I guess I need to qualify my use of "militant".  Hostile towards Christians and/or religion in general.

I don't recall meeting up with one here on HAF.

Oh I, for one, am indeed hostile towards "religion in general", but there is a difference between what I would call "political hostility" and redneck/militant islamist shotgun approach, which encompasses things like freezing people out of jobs and/or communities according to world view.

I have met several atheists hostile to some or all religions, but only one or two hostile to the actual people practicing them. On that basis, I'd say that image is quite correct a representation.

In Asmo's grey lump,
wrath and dark clouds gather force.
Luxembourg trembles.

I came here with the intent to casue a ruckus because of past pessimism from a couple Athiests, it was a revenge thing, but i'm over it. I met Stevil, a very rational Athiest. I no longer intend to cause a ruckus.

Just like to debate, and shoot down every logical point that you guys make against Christianity.   ;D

What about the logical point that Christianity has been the cause of great evil, including but not limited to covering up the rape of children. Doesn't it make you guilty by association? I understand that it was not "god" but it was those claiming to be gods representatives, gods dealers if you will. The only way to boycott the product is to boycott the dealer, by continuing to go to church and spread the word are you not by proxy spreading your own submissive acceptance of the atrocities done in god's name, the atrocities covered up by the institutions in his name and condoning whatever future evils these institutions create. My goal here in these forums is not to try to uncover the origins of matter in the cosmos. Or to scientifically explain the vast improbability of an interventionist god. It is my goal to help people understand that god is not a necessary ingredient in the recipe for a decent moral person, or a decent moral society. I want to help promote atheism as a means of personal accountability. There is no gods plan, just you and your own decisions, everything you are and everything you've done you take full accountability for when there is no scapegoat like Jesus or god, or gods will or any of the other lines of horseshit that frightened feeble minded people need to feed each other in order to feel OK with their cosmic insignificance. Religion is a path of moral and intellectual handicap. Atheism is a path to personal accountability and the acceptance of the weight that that bears.

"You say so." Mk 15:2 NAB
River: (speaking about the Bible) "It's broken. It doesn't make sense."
Shepherd Book: "It's not about making sense. It's about believing in something, and letting that belief be real enough to change your life. It's about faith. You don't fix faith, River. It fixes you."
