DirtyLeo

Hi all,

I just joined the forum and wanted to drop by here to say hello.

I'm a 37-year-old software engineer. I'm married and have a few-month old son. I play Waterpolo and I'm probably a gym geek. I've played guitar for 25 years. I do scuba diving. I like dancing (mostly Salsa and some Tango). I occasionally do pencil and charcoal drawings. I love reading. I read mostly fantasy/sic-fi/horror in fiction. And as non-fiction I love to read about religions, religious history and evolution.

Hoping to discuss with you on the forum,
Take care!

Thanks for the warm welcome.
I took some time to read through some of the threads. Looks like this forum has some very impressive regulars. It's going to be very interesting to follow you all - and chime in, hopefully.

Any books you can recommend? I'm currently reading "The God Delusion" by Richard Dawkins, but I'd be happy to hear what you have to recommend.

The God Delusion is a great book. I'm assuming that you're just starting to read about these topics. In this case, I would recommend God is not Great by Christopher Hitchens as well. If you'd like to read about evolution, Dawkins has many books on the subject. I really like The Selfish Gene. Daniel Dennett has very good books such as Breaking the Spell: Religion as a Natural Phenomenon.

In the history of religions, Karen Armstrong's A History of God is a good one. She also has many more specialized books such as Islam: A Short History.

I hope this is a good enough list to start with.
