The Magic Pudding

Quote from: "fester30"Holy crap I'm in the wrong business!  I need to sell expensive religious crap to churches with more money than common sense!

To supply such an icon to the church you'd have to be a favoured supplier.
I'm not sure how you attain that status.

Back when I used to be a Catholic, our church burned down (pure coincidence, I swear!), and when they rebuilt it, they definitely went for the grand effect. It was about twice as big, twice as tall, with all these crazy ornate statues and paintings on the inside. They actually said "Oh yeah and these seriphim statues cost about $12,000 a pop, and this gold-plated replica of the Ark of the Covenant was a good $20K." Really, church? Really? Do you know how much charity work can be done with the $44K just from those 3 false idols?

I will admit I would love to have that Ark replica.
Mulder: He put the whammy on him.
Scully: Please explain to me the scientific nature of "the whammy."

So wow the Ark replica cost more than it did for George Lucas and Steven Spielberg!

They made a point of letting us know that it was legit gold and marble and whatever other ridiculous expensive materials went into to hand-crafting it.

I thought that was a great event-it should happen more often! :)
