Just Submitted my application for a Dphil (a PhD by any other name), I'm really worried, because this is a perfect project for me, but I stumbled across it late, so the the application was not optimal in terms of preparation. Also, it's to do with Nuclear energy, so I even get moral credentials for helping mankind  

Throw up your hands to all mighty Atheismo and beseech him to aid me! Beg the Noodley appendage of our pasta composed overlord to intervene on my behalf!

P.S. If I remember correctly, Squid is a Doctoral student, have we any other people on the long path to a career in academia? How do you find it?

Don't know, shouldn't be too long. It's going to be great if it works, I get to learn, work with a great group of people, help mankind, and they pay me to do it. Who ever invented doctorates was a genius.

Well, looks like the power of pray has been proven, I was just offered the place, though it did takes ages.  

Thanks for all the support guys, I'm reasonably sure it didn't have a statistically significant detrimental effect, which is all I could have ever hoped for.
