I know you folks will hate to hear this, but I live in the UP of Michigan on the coast of Lake Superior.  We haven't had a day where the temps have reached 90 F so far this summer.  Today and yesterday the temps didn't reach out of the 60's F.  Typically, we don't have more than five to ten days where the temps reach the 90's F.

Of course, you have to realize that in the winter we get better than 300 inches of snow from October to May, which kind of offsets the nice summers.

Quote from: "Gawen"Today just about killed me. Just too frakkin hot and humid where I live. Saps the energy right out of me.
So when I'm not melting a big block of ice over my head, I'll check in from time to time.

And to think there's 2 months of this stuff left..*hevy sigh*

We live in similar necks of the wood... Texas that is.

Last year in the Central Texas area there were over 60 plus days of 100+ temperatures.  This is no joke.  It was HOT and it was DRY.

This year it is a horse of another color.  It is, relative to last year that is, some what hot, but very HUMID.

Yesterday it was 91 and very humid.  It felt like it was more like 99... but it still isn't the same.  Even though the heat index may say 98, 99, 100, etc.  with the high humidity it feels 10x worse than being at 101 and dry.

It sounds strange, but I would rather it be 102 and 20% humidity than 90 and 80% humidity.  The latter just feels awful.

This posted from a man who just finished mowing the front yard while I slaved over a boiling kettle of water canning more pickles and relishes ;)   It was only 95* out.

I had to make a 3 hour drive back from the town I was living in to the town I'm currently living in the other day. I was in a hurry to get back to make it to work so I forgot to make sure I had some water to drink. It was over 100 degrees outside, and my wonderful little dodge neon does not have air conditioning.
When I got to work I was dizzy and felt like I was going to faint. Both hands had fallen asleep and were stuck in a clawlike position. I had to sit for about the first half hour of work just drinking water.
Boy, did I feel like a moron.

indeed. It was bad. The moral of the story, I guess, is don't forget to drink water on a hot day.

There is a great shot of Jeremy Clarkson on Top Grear traveling through the south of the USA in a car with no air con, he's pouring a bottle of water over himself to keep cool!

Ford explorer.... BLACK.... no AC.  I can commiserate!

The house ac unit is having a little trouble keeping up today.  Changed the filter and crossing fingers.  We had to live without the darn thing last September with those 100* to 108* for an entire sweaty week until the parts came in (needed a new control panel for the compressor and a new fan motor, our AC is ancient and no longer made, had to re-engineer the fan motor spot for one from Granger, found a used control panel)..........  Really do not want to do that again!

There are indeed four seasons in Central Texas
Some refer to the seasons in terms of how hot it is

January to February- Not so Hot

March to May - Hot

June to October - VERY F#$%IN HOT (as in blistering, turn you lobster red, instant dehydration HOT)

November to December - Huntin' Season!
