Quote from: "Ellainix"Gossip Girl and Skins
I love Skins as well, not inspirational but I do find it quite addictive. Brings back memories of that time of life when you're just old enough but not too old to really, really get a buzz out of exploring life.
If religions were TV channels atheism is turning the TV off.

Remember, your inability to grasp science is not a valid argument against it.

Star Wars.

It taught me it is ok to fancy your sister if you don't know she is actually your sister..
QuoteI find it mistifying that in this age of information, some people still deny the scientific history of our existence.

That's not the sort of thing one should admit to on the Internet!

Oh, and Curio, I had the great fortune of doing a writing workshop with Levine.  He's a tough cookie in person, but writes some amazing stuff.

Okay, my influences:

Xena, Warrior Princess.  Seriously.  The whole idea that if a god isn't worshipped it ceases to exist blew my mind.  And the campiness of it all.  And how they started weaving in and playing with Christian myths with the Greek ones.  Very fun.  Everything ends up looking ridiculous and Xena saves them all!

Walt Whitman's "Leaves of Grass."

Emerson's "Nature."  The transparent eyeball analogy rocked my world when I first read it as a teen.  (Whitman + Emerson = my pantheist label)

Sidharta.  What a story!

The family of my elementary school best friend.  They taught me that not all homes were abusive.

Beethoven's "Moonlight Sonata."  I can't listen to it without sobbing.  Amazing art.  Such pieces almost make me believe, if ever so slightly, that there *might* be something beyond us, beyond our ability to measure and quantify.
The god of the cannibals will be a cannibal, of the crusaders a crusader, and of the merchants a merchant.  -Ralph Waldo Emerson
