...and just started sinking my teeth into the board. But, my intro thread was just a *wavin atcha* thing. So here goes a more meatier one.

Been married to the same woman for 30 years this next May.
Have two wonderful children, one of each sex, both out of school....and *heavy sigh*...both still at home. I live in Burleson, Tx., which is south of Ft. Worth. I'm a transplant from Michigan.

I've been an atheist all my life despite being brought up Presbyterian. I never could believe this stuff. Way back in the mid 80's, my cousin gave me a book titled "The Lost Books of the Bible". That pretty much started me on my quest to find out why I do not  believe the same things as everyone else does...so to speak. My quest was on the back burner until round the year 2000. That's when it went into overdrive. No....it went into afterburner!

Some of you may know me from other boards. I've been a moderator on a couple boards (Existence of God/s , General Religious Discussions, Moral foundations and Principles to name a few forum types) and have been Lead Admin on one of the best free thought boards around. And that's not to say that HAF is no slouch. There's quite a few intelligent people here. I like it here too.
So I have loads and loads of research materials that I can let you have. However, I'm not up on Creationism...well, the science of it. I don't know much of the intricacies of Evolution, I don't know one rock from another being that my studies have focused on just about every argument there is for the existence of God/s and the refutations thereof...and the Bible.

Just so you all know, "Gawen" is a Welsh variation of Gawain. I am a man. I suppose Tank will quit talking to me now...*laffin*. I've been using Gawen for about 10 years now.

I always thought you were a bloke, I suppose it's my default position until told otherwise (don't hit me too hard ladies). I must say I had conflicted ideas about your age though. Your enthusiasm and use of language lead me to think you were in your late 20's but your experience and delivery led me to think you were older, mid 40's. Your spat with McQ was the worrying point as I had a horrible feeling you were going to fall out with him because of your previous pedigree in positions of responsibility elsewhere. I'm very glad that was resolved amicably as I have no doubt you would be a great debating asset on any atheist forum. Your research makes you doubly useful as you can support your arguments rigorously.
