I have recently 'converted' to Atheism/Free-thinking from Christianity and was looking for some guidance / resources / like-minded people to help me on the road to independence and reason.

Glad I stumbled onto this forum--and hope to enjoy some open-minded discussion and the oft casual chat :)

The reason that my faith in God / Christ was shattered was something that bothered me my whole life--and then this gem from http://www.evilbible.com/why_i_am_not_a_christian.htm

QuoteI would not worship that horror (God).  It violates my morality to worship a hypocritical, judgmental, self righteous murderer.  In punishment, it could send me to the hell it’s made for those it dislikes, and if there was no other choice but worshiping it, I would walk in proudly.

You are very welcome, Leondp :)

That's a great website btw. Online resources ftw.

Quote from: "Ivan Tudor C McHock"If your faith in god is due to your need to explain the origin of the universe, and you do not apply this same logic to the origin of god, then you are an idiot.

Welcome to the forum!

When I was a newbie atheist, I found a lot of comfort in online resources.  I read up a lot at the "internet infidels" (huge online library there).  Also, you might try checking out some books from the library.  They might have these authors:  Carl Sagan (especially "Demon Haunted World"), Richard Dawkins (especially "The God Delusion) or anything by Sam Harris :)
