Couple Found Guilty After Prayer Fails To Save Sick Son

The couple, who practices faith healing, was convicted of criminally negligent homicide on Tuesday after prosecutors argued they failed in their duty to get medical help for their son, Neil, in June 2008.

They were also were acquitted of manslaughter last year in the death of their granddaughter.

Sentence: 16 to 18 months... or maybe just parole.

I'm from Oregon and this has been a topic lately. The wierd thing is Oregon is one of the more religiosly tolerant states. I think we also have one of the highest ratios of Atheist per population. It's just weird to have fundie nut jobs of this caliber so near.

Where's the religious right on this? They sure will fight for the right to life for an unborn fetus, but not for an already born 13 year old?
