Hi Time Dog, Welcome to HAF.  You probably aren't the only Wisconsin member but you might be the only one active on here right now.

Hows the weather up in Wisconsin?  Also tell us a little about yourself.  How did you become an atheist?  What are your favorite books?  Do you like playing video games?  That is if you want to ^_^

the weather here in wisconsin is...unusual. the summer was freakishly mild and uneventful, the winter so far has only produced one night of flurries and last night was the coldest yet (a mere 22 degrees fahrenheit) when seasonally we should have had a foot or more of snow and 22 degrees should be a warm day. i blame it all on global warming.

i became an atheist at birth really. learning various sciences are my earliest memories, although at one point i was technically a christian but even then i questioned the reality of it. through my own self exploration and learning more science and philosophy i came to the conclusion that i am an atheist and always have been whether i knew it or not.

as for my favorite books they are as follows but not in any particular order just as they come to mind; pandora's star, judas unchained, succession, armor, letter to a chrisitian nation, the dreaming void, war of the worlds, the god delusion, the complete encyclopedia of mythology (not really a book to just sit down and read (obviously) but ive learned a lot from it), siddhartha, sophies world, the bible: revelations (seriously, that shit is hilarious), and some others i can't think of at the moment.

yes i like playing video games. ive always enjoyed, and always will, real time strategy games specifically on PC, however first person shooters are also something i equally enjoy. in either situation the biggest factor that plays into whether i like the game or not is if it has a good storyline. mass effect, fallout 3, oblivion, and halo (the story is great but the campaign was lacking) are good games worth mentioning. for real time strategy games with great storylines id like to mention, command and conquer, starcraft, red alert, star wars: empire at war, and dawn of war, which of course is based off of the warhammer 40,000 series. overall im kinda picky about what games i play but im really open to anything.

wow, i didnt realize how much i typed so much untill i was done. well i hope that answered you questions :D

LoneMateria

It sure did.  See you are a very interesting person.  Most people have a hard time writing about themselves.  A few questions got a bit out of you.

Anyway you must be excited that StarCraft 2 is coming out ... eventually :P.

Also I recognize about half the books from your list though I haven't read them all.  I'd suggest (if you don't already have it and just didn't list it) Misquoting Jesus by Bart Ehrman and also you might like Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy ^_^

Weather here in florida is similar to yours in Wisconsin.  Last night it got to about 30 degrees and about 20 miles north of us (I live in the Panhandle) got snow last night.  Crazy weather it only snows here once every 10 years or so I don't think global warming is playing a big roll here lol

yes i am excited about starcraft 2, its been far to long. i havnet played the first one in like....5 years. idk if i could find the discs lol.

yea we are supposed to finally get some snow this week. i hope it stays for xmas. its been years since we had a green xmas.

LoneMateria

Yeah I no longer have my original starcraft discs.  Supposedly people still play on battlenet with it.  If you just want to play the storyline missions i'd recommend just torrenting starcraft ... at least that way you can get some fun out of it.

Why on earth would you read multiple big books at once?

My gf and I are visiting her family in Iowa this year for xmas.  Last time I went there they had the coldest day in 20 years or something like that -39 with wind chill.  I've lived in Florida my whole life and that was the first time I saw snow ... I can only take so much cold lol.  Well hopefully we will have a white xmas this year ... it would make her happy ^_^

as to why i read a bunch of big books at once, id have to say its ADD lol.

our last winter was a brutal one. for like 3 months it never got above 10 degrees. a couple of times my eyeballs almost froze because the wind chill would frequently get below -50. we only got a moderate amount of snow though. the winter before that was equally brutal but with like 6 feet of snow and not as much cold. that was a fun one. we had a shitty mayor that year too and for some stupid reason he decided to cut plow funding, which you just cant do in wisconsin, and most of the roads ended up burried under 6+ inches of pack ice for like 4 or 5 months. but thats what i love about this place, winter becomes more about conquering the elements which can be quite challenging here.
