Munchkin Goddess

Something to know about me, I am a midget. According to the Little People of America, if you are less than 4'10, you are a midget. I am 4'9 and 3/4. I am not kidding. I am a midget because of a quarter of an inch.  :hissyfit:

Anywho, I used to be a fundamentalist Christian. I started questioning my religion at around 16 or 17. I just felt that many people claimed to be Christians and they didn't even follow the book for the basis of their religion. In addition, there are also a lot of hate and contradictions that I didn't like in the Bible. So I felt my spiritual path wasn’t in this religion. After all, if God created you and he wants you to find him, he would let you know in your heart what was the correct religion, or at least the correct religion for you.

At the age of 17, I came out to myself and to the world. I finally accepted myself for who I was and I didn't let the Christian religion tell me who I am is wrong. I was much happier, much more out going. But I did feel some guilt. After all, if God sends homosexuals to hell, then does that mean I'm going to hell? But this is who I am and I am happier since I came out. So it lead me on my quest to learn other religions. Maybe the Christian teaching is wrong and God does love his children. So I did some research and while I found religions that I liked, I couldn't find myself to agree or believe all aspects of their religion. So I decided to be an agnostic theist. However, it just lead me to really question God. Whether God exists and why is there evil? When I was 21, I became an atheist. Funny thing was that my college courses in history, philosophy, and theology helped me realize why there wasn't a God. Oh, the irony was I went to a Catholic college. Becoming an atheist was a life changing moment for me. That realization made my head spinned. But I would say I am happier now. I live my life, because this is the only life I am going to have. I live my life, not in preparation for the next life because there isn't a next life. I live my life knowing that even though something nice I do for someone doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things, it really does matter because it's all we have. Every moment is so important because you can never have it back. You can never take it back.

I am now 22 and I have transferred to another Catholic University because they gave me the best financial aid package for me going to school. I used to live in North New Jersey. Now I live Pennsylvania with my fiancé. I have many nicknames: Munchkin Goddess, Munchkin, Munchy, Ewok, Shorty, etc.

Nice to meet you.

Hi! I just joined as well.

I'm 21 and was once Catholic, then agnostic...and finally atheist. I'm happier with myself.

Haha, I once knew someone who made it their goal in life to be a midget.

Once they no longer had any chance of fitting into that bracket, they started eating properly again and grew half a foot over the summer.

Welcome to the forum, and welcome to a fellow Pennsylvanian! Isn't it ironic how studying about religion can make you aware of how unlikely that religion is to be true? That was me too, with christianity. Knowledge is power, for sure. And I also became a much happier (and better, I think) person after shedding the woo-woo-world of religion.

I had to look up the LPA site to believe it for myself - 4'10". Wow. If I may be so nosy, are you simply short, or do you have one of the common conditions that cause dwarfism (achondroplasia, etc.)? You don't have to disclose that, obviously, but hey, you brought it up!  :D

Anyway, welcome!

I'm 5'1''. Barely. I am not a little person! They project my daughter to be under five feet, but I don't buy those projections.

Sorry I didn't respond right away, during the weekend I can get really busy.

@ LoneMateria
Yes, I like to read (Julie Anne Peters is my favorite author), play videogames (Final Fantasy VIII for PS1 is the best), go walking (if I have someone to walk with), eating, and do anything else that is fun. I try to be open minded and I'll do almost anything once. How about you?

@ Heretical Rants
lol, why was your friend trying to be a midget?

@ McQ
Well, I don't fall into those dwarfism diseases. To put simply, I have a hormone problem that wasn't detected until I was in the 8th grade when I didn't get my period for 6months and I wasn't sexually active at the time. If my doctor has detected my hormone problem earlier, I would have been taller. However, not too much taller because in my family the females are usually short (but around 5'3) and the males tend to be tall(around 5'7 and up). I forget what it is called. And I don't mind disclosing, I usually an open person both on and off the internet. There are very few things I consider too private to answer ^_^
Also, about studying religion, have you ever heard the expression "the Bible's power is that so few people read it"?

I've never played FF8 but I <3 FF7.  I'm going through some old games I used to play but never finished.  I'm currently working on .hack//mutation.  Other then gaming I read books (mostly atheist books) i'm working on god is not Great by Hitchens and godless: How an Evangelical Preacher Became One of America's Leading Atheists by Barker.  Do you play any MMO?

*cry* there is an on going debate between what is the best FF. Many say FF7, those who are fans of FF8 say it's that FF8 is underrated or misunderstood. It's pretty funny but you should play FF8!

I like to read teen books even though I am 22, lol. There are a few age appropriate books I like. I do want to start reading religious books (eg. the bible and atheist books) but unfortunately I have ADD, and while I can manage it with school, there are not a lot of books that can hold my interests long enough for me to read it, finish it, or understand it in its entirety.
At the moment, I am reading Julie Anne Peters new book Rage: A Love Story.

Yes I do play MMO games, such as Metal Gear Online, World of Warcraft, Uncharted 2 (I have the beta online gaming version and will get the game when it comes out), and I think that's it. What about yourself?

LoneMateria

My buddy keeps trying to get me into World of Warcraft.  I played it a long time ago when I was playing FFXI but couldn't get into WoW mostly because you start out with nothing and no friends.  But right now I'm no longer playing any MMO's every once in a while I hop into MapleStory but thats it.

Oh, I have a friend who is into MapleStory! I haven't played it yet, for no particular reason, lol.

With WoW, that is why there is guilds, so you can start making friends. Plus more people WoW then you think, I have been surprised.

... I can vouch for WoW's popularity - the guy who sold my wife her car played... knew all the characters.
(I don't play WoW - but I play in it ;-)

Nice to meet you Munchkin!

Last time I went to play WoW I had a lot of friends in FFXI as well as a lot of effort put into my character.  Unlike in WoW, FFXI had a job system which you could level a job and change to another if you didn't like it or whatever and always could change back if you wanted.  So I had a max level Thief and was working on my Monk and my Ninja and was pretty active in my LinkShell(guild).  We did a lot of Chains of Promothia runs (essentially its level capped instances) as well as Beseiged(fucking awesome monsters lay siege to your city and you and every other adventurer in the area gets drafted to the army to beat their asses).

When I switched I went from having all sorts of money, items and was able to kill everything to being broke had 2 friends and got my ass beat by level 10 monsters.  But like I said my buddy is trying to get me into it and i've been thinking it over, since he can get me the first 4 months free if I get the battle chest.
