Heretical Rants

According to the article, the percentage of people who think that America is “a Christian Nation” is 62 percent...

How scary this is depends on each individual's definition of "Christian Nation," however.  If they meant that the majority of people are Christian, then it's not scary at all, everyone knows that.  If they meant that they think Christianity is our national religion, should have influence in our government, etc.... then it is very scary indeed.

Also, some people define "Christianity" as nothing more than Secular Humanism.  Do I want less of this?  No.

Religion is like supporting a sports team. You'll meet the majority who just support their team, and those few who start riots over it.
Now I can be re-gognizod!

I was just at Church Retreat camp over the weekend (I'm an atheist with a pastor for a father, it's a tough gig.)  There was a presentation going and Catholicism is picking up in the Mexico boarding states (I wonder why?)  and evangelical churches are on the increase, but not nearly as quickly as mainstream religion is declining.  The only thing was though, that they didn't include Mormons as Christians in that survey, and I know the Mormon church is growing.  Basically religious moderates are going away.  Everyone is either becoming a Jesus freak of secular.
