Hey, my friend and I are Kurt Vonnegut fans. His favorite work is a short story about over-population (might be in Man w/o a Country?), but I can't remember the title. A google search was fruitless, but you can try if you want. Any help would be much appreciated.

There is A Man Without a Country but there are several short stories about over-population, not sure which one you are looking for.  I like Welcome to the Monkey House myself, it's 25 stories on overpopulation, some very interesting to say the least.  Here's a link to his works and books of collections etc.  (I'm not sure why but they also have some here that aren't his, but influenced by him.)  Hope this helps. http://www.biblio.com/author_biographies/2193630/Kurt_Vonnegut.html
In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular. (Kathy Norris)
