Are our "Christian" Members Actually Atheists?

I'm beginning to think some of our so-called Christian forum members are actually atheists.  Why else would they come to an atheist forum and act like caricatures of hysterical Christians?  Everything they say is dripping with hatred and even atheists know that Jesus didn't espouse hatred.  I think that many Christians would find their faith, if not in God, at least in their fellow Christians, extremely shaken if they were exposed to people like that on a regular basis.  That's why I'm guessing that they must be an atheists or possibly antitheists - because they are working really hard to make Christians look vicious, hysterical, and irrational.  I mean, seriously - one of them even compared a rude t-shirt with the murder of six million Jews.  That's obviously just trying to reinforce our atheism.

Hmmm, but maybe they aren't atheists because they claims that anyone who is not a Christian (of their type only, no Catholics allowed) is a servant of Satan and thus should be subjected to their will because the gang of 225 million Christians in America could basically do anything they want to us.  They also keep saying it's OK for Christians to abuse non-Christians any way they want in America because Muslims in other countries are worse.  They also keep hoping we will leave America and get butchered by other theists, probably because Christians haven't made it legal to do in America yet.

Perhaps they're just part of that 10% (or less) of American Christians yearning desperately for a theocracy.  You know the kind, the ones that make regular Christians cringe and apologize?  They probably don't have millions of dollars to create a [strike:1nwhok2m]lie[/strike:1nwhok2m] Creation Museum so they're stuck with yelling about how persecuted they are on internet forums, likely between atheist beatings and praying the gay out of their neighbors.

Are you OK Kylssa? It seems like you might have a recent negative experience or something or mabey just gotten fed up. This just doesn't sound like you. Anger and disgust isen't your usuall style.

I'm OK, I've just encountered more than my fair share of fundies lately and have recently gotten a lot of Christian hate mail.  A lot of it has had the same theme:  
We're persecuted, we're persecuted, stop persecuting us because we could beat you up - but hey we won't kill you like Muslims would.

I'm just sick of it.  I do carry a lot of baggage regarding fundamentalist Christians and what they have done to me, my family and friends, and to my country.  As a child, me and my family were shunned for not being Christian.  My siblings and I were harassed and picked in school by teachers and students because of it.  That was years of Christian physical and mental abuse.  I have been beaten up and seriously injured for being an atheist.  I've had my car vandalized by Christians and I've been stalked by a Christian because I'm an atheist. I've received death threats scrawled into my car with a sharp object and death threats by phone and by Internet.  A supposed friend literally spit on me when she found out I was not religious.  

I've had to listen to co-workers talk about how atheists should be kicked out of America or rounded up and shot.  I've had to hear of employees getting hired over more qualified candidates because they went to a Christian school.  When working on Muslim wedding flowers I had to listen to hideous bigoted conversations in my workplace.  I also had to hear such things as "Why did you recommend him?  He's queer."  

A friend got his custody time of his children reduced to supervised visits because he's godless so he must be a bad influence.  A friend, who'd worked for a company for eight years and gotten various bonuses and awards for performance got fired two days after being accidentally outed as an atheist at work, but not before the valve cores of her tires had been cut out in the work parking lot.


I have hit the last straw with this Christians are persecuted in America horse crap.  Christians are NOT f-ing persecuted in America, they are doing the persecution!

We feel your pain. If it's therapudic for you to rant to those who have gone through many of same issues, please do. I was luckey enough to grow up on the west coast which is fairly liberal (I still had issues though) But I have lived in both the south and mid-west over the years so I understand just how insanly religious some people can be. We are here for you and I don't think anyone wants you so angry so I'm sure you'll find your sounding board and release vent in the community.

I often wonder the same thing, Kylissa. Since we've had one recent sock puppet, I'm wondering if we're not getting a few more. I usually check IP Addresses when I suspect this, but they can only tell you so much. I'm a bit disgusted with this behavior myself, but then, I don't have much patience for bullshit.

Actually, Jesus' doctrine of Hell is quite possibly the most hideous form of hatred I can think of.  He's two-faced.  He talks about love, love, love, but he's really the abusive boyfriend that purrs his affections, yet keeps a large crow bar visible at his side.  Just in case, you know, you decide to exercise your freedom and turn him down once in a while.  "You don't want to accept my love - by following my rules?  Well, then, I just might have to let my minion over here beat you for eternity.  And it's okay because I'll promise that I'll be sad about it."

That's where the double-sided Christian comes from.  They can be loving or hateful.  Both are right there in their book.

I have to apply Poe's Law here. You can't really be too sure. But it's possible that they're atheist trolls posing as fundies. Actually it would probably be just one troll. Why else would we sprout so many new comers all of a sudden. Can we run another IP check?

I can't say how serious these new posters are, but the increase in religious person activity on this forum could simply be because the worsening economy is making people turn to religion.  Right now, there is no reason to suspect sock puppets.

I've been away for a while so i need to catch up on all these new fundie posters. They shouldn't get us down, though. We should all just laugh at them the minute they stop answering our serious posts.

I came across this post and am truly saddened. I haven't faced a degree of the abuse that you've had to deal with, so I won't insult you by saying I can imagine what that must feel like. It's those type of actions which makes some people exploit the duplicity of Christian behavior. I don't really understand what type of Christian would feel as though he/she would have a right to display a gross sense of superiority to which actions of mental/verbal/physical abuse should be employed.

This is the complete opposite to what I've ever been taught. And no, not just taught from Christianity but from a human's innate sense of right and wrong. And people wonder why some are turned away from Christianity? The mentality that was shared in your story at school seems to be synonymous with racism. "You're not one of us, so you need to be punished." It's absurd!
