Hello all.

This seemed the best place to start...

I am an atheist in a very atheist-unfriendly place called the south. Ever heard of it? lol. I was a bible college student and part time preacher, until one day it just clicked that I really, REALLY, don't believe in god, or gods of any kind. I have recieved a good deal of heat for my point of view, and am basically hoping to use this site to make sure I'm not the only person in the world who thinks the planet is a little more than 6,000 years old and created by a god so amazing he left no sign of his existence whatsoever...

I'm trying hard not to be an angry atheist (because that is presicely what the bible thumpers want), but all I've been through makes that hard for me. I've only met one other atheist from here and that is my lovely wife, but she's still in the closet about it so to speak.

Sorry for the long and somewhat negative intro. I'm generally a more positive person which will hopefully be evident.
It's better to regret something you did than something you didn't do.

Welcome to you and your lovely wife!
It sounds like you have a Happy Atheist attitude:

This site is a priceless place for closeted folks to SPEAK. :hail:
There's nothing wrong with ambivalence--is there?

Prayers that need no answer now, cause I'm tired of who I am
You were my greatest mistake, I fell in love with your sin

Welcome to the forum, from a former missionary-girl from the North. :)

HEY HEY FROM NORTH CAROLINA!!  I know what you mean about the south being very intolerant of people who don't believe in Jesus, etc...  My husband used to attend Lipscomb Univ in Nashville, so he's familiar w/ the bible-thumping of the south, but he's not very religious, thankfully.

Welcome to the board...can't wait to hear more from you!

I was really not born one way or another....

I have a bad step-dad quaker person who renounced spirituality because of that, but he is a total dumbass still.

I don't view this forum very free-thinking but still bias.

It's just my opinion.

Feel free to boot me.

And to dismiss agnostic arguments w/o logic (IMO).

Like I said deserve to be booted.

At least in real-life I'm very happy and attractive human being.

I'm not even going to bother asking what this has to do with this introduction thread. Or why you quoted me for this post.  :hmm:

QuoteI find it mistifying that in this age of information, some people still deny the scientific history of our existence.
