So for an AP Literature assignment (I'm a senior in high school) I had to write a poem. I actually decided to write a poem about atheism since it was on my mind as I am currently reading The God Delusion. This is seriously my first time trying to write a poem. I consider myself a relatively weak writer and I feel that English is one of my worst subjects. But I felt like sharing my poem anyway to see what you guys think:

Invisible Man in the Sky

Such is this freedom of ours
To overcome the intellectual bounds
In which our minds are sharpest but round
And our hearts twitter like flowers
To know we do not believe in a man whose powers
Would foster a scathing hate that would hound
Men to their deaths whose sounds
Reverberate as clerics dwell in their extravagant towers.

We are born not sinful but beautiful
Allure that would bait even Adam
And elegance that could catch Eve’s eye.
In this world so bountiful
It is a wonder that a man would fathom
An invisible man in the sky.

Please note that I was trying to write it as an Italian sonnet (abba abba cde cde ryhme scheme) with some ambiguity.

Bravo for writing a poem about atheism! I have to say that English lit was one of my weakest subjects at school, though I was even worse at sports. I am no critic. That said, I liked your poem :)
