Ad hominem attacks are what I find flaming and quite honestly more personal.

I'd rather have you all been calling me a butthole flying spaghetti monster that spews out my nostrils ignorant stupid type thing, etc.

But to go through the efforts beyond that, I find offensive.

I'm sorry, I take too many things personally, but attack my logic/reason, I'm a shark.  Ad hominem's I don't accept.  To myself, or to others.

All best.

I'm not going to go through remark and remark....damn I have better things to do.  I only talk to this forum while I listen to my finale score.

Well.....

If you don't bring it to the attention of an admin or mod, there isn't anything we can do.  Basically, don't complain if you unwilling to point it out.

Why'd you bother making a thread about it then? That usually implies that you do want to discuss it.

Anyway, Mae...I don't know you or what you are talking about really, but I feel you need a hug......Whatever it is, it is ok......Some people are just sharp witted....don't take it personally, ok? How can you really....when you are just the type written words on this computer really? I know, though, sometimes I have my sensitive moments, too...so here is a hug for you....

FUCK YOU! IN THE EAR, WANKPELLET!

Just kidding. I take it that specific attacks of this nature have cropped up in other threads. It can and does hurt, but I personally consider it effective to disarm such a response by pointing out its logical fallacy. An insult directed at you (or YO’ MAMA!) usually doesn’t have any relevance to the argument at hand, and therefore serves no purpose. If the person insists on an argumentum ad hominem, then simply ignore or block them.

Your final sentence almost sounds like a goodbye. I admit I’ve only posted on these forums (fora?) a day, but it seems like a lovely and thoughtâ€"provoking place. I hope you won’t let these bad experiences chase you away from here.

I've seen you comment about people flaming you in just about every thread you've posted in, and remarked to at least one newbie to watch out as well.  Seems a little paranoid and like you object to anyone disagreeing with your points when they are using logic of their own in opposition to what you post.....hmmm....I believe that is debate and not flaming you just simply disagreeing.

Some people just can't handle being told they're wrong or using poor arguments. They see it is a personal attack, most likely because they can't separate their beliefs about the world from themselves in the world.

I jsut realized this is just one post about flaming, I guess this is part one and the "Still Flaming Going on" is part two?  Did we really need two posts on a topic that is in direct opposition of a forum's purpose?  That's annoying.

I'm pretty sure we really didn't even need one post on this topic.

Although that Curio sure flames me all the time, so maybe it is necessary. ;)

You're right, we don't.  I'm locking this thread.

Maes, absolutely no more posts about flaming or your opinions on flaming until you pm myself or another mod about exactly what you have been complaining about or to point out any new instances of flaming.  Frankly, I don't think anyone has even somewhat flamed you other than a couple comments about you posting too many threads about nothing.  That's not flaming, that's just honesty and you already know my thoughts about it.
