I'm in pre-pre-production for a documentary about living as an atheist in the Bible Belt of the United States. I live in Oklahoma, where there are about 200 churhes for every 3 people, and so I catch a lot of flack for my beliefs, or lack thereof.

So, I'd like to have some advice on what to expect when I interview people, what kinds of questions to ask and what to avoid. I'd also like to have some advice on personal safety, because there's a remote possibility of me being attacked for being an atheist (No kidding.)

So, any suggestions, comments, or advice?

Well, watch The God Who Wasn't There and Dawkins' documentaries, especially The Root of All Evil. Then remember that you're a local, and how that might change their reactions.

As for the questions to ask, just be straight. Don't try to guide them into any specific direction or goad them into saying something just for a sound byte. That's what post is for. With crazies like that, you'll have no shortage of material, I assure you.  ;)

I would like to see your documentary be much more interesting and unique than the ones made by Richard Dawkins.
