It feels like Christmas!

Or at least I suspect it feels like Christmas does to little kids whose families celebrate that holiday.  Why, the inauguration of course!

I know that Obama appears to be a religious person but, he's not a religious tyrant.  To me, Obama's election represents a fall on the better side of a cusp (between the left and right) which would have had terrible effects had it gone the other way.  It represents the end of the Bush presidency.  It also represents (at least to me) a step towards reason and away from idiotic attitudes like racism.

Did you notice it took him a little while to bow his head when everyone was listening to whatshisname? Haha. His job > God!

I'm glad he threw in the "non-believers" part, too. Now, I'm off to get me one of them swanky Obama plates!  roflol

YES, YES, YES!!! I'm so damn excited about Obama! Yes, he is religious, but he is also very reasonable and inclusive. He included 'nonbelievers' in the speech which shows he isn't being tolerant, but actually respectful.

Excellent speech but I was so frakking bored of the whole thing last night.

Only time will tell if he's as good as many hope he will be.

The thing is - even if he were in a vegetative state, he'd be better than the McCain/Palin alternative.  Last year I saw us leaning over a yawning chasm of religious horseshit and I breathed a giant sigh of relief when that particular danger passed.  Sure, the nutballs are out there and government is still praising god but they don't have a religious nutball figurehead in the White House to lead them on to gawd's glory.

It will be great to have a president that doesn't embarrass us every time he speaks.

Apparently one of the first things he did was freeze the pay of his staff. I'm not sure for how long but that is pretty impressive.

He could be legitimately theistic although I don't know how religious he is since he is more liberal, although not as much as I would like for a Democrat. However you can never be certain with politicians. I'm sure there are many "in the closet" politicians since having yourself elected when openly atheistic in this country is.... a daunting task.
