The coming together of a group of people to have fun, is for me, one of the most enlightening things in life.

I spent this weekend partying. I'm lucky that i live close to Dartmoor in one of the most sparsely populated parts of the UK. The village i live in has a vibrant population of people throughout the entire age spectrum. Every now and then, someone organizes a party in the local forest.
Like usual, the one this weekend was incredible. It was nestled in a small clearing surrounded by dense forest. Large granite rocks poking out of the ground in various places provided decent seating whilst the lights suspended in the trees created the right level of visual stimulus. The music was pumping and the 200-strong crowd were completely up for a good time. I knew a good 60% of the people there.

At some point in the evening i sat on a rock and surveyed the throng of dancing people. Everyone was smiling or laughing. It was at this point i realised you cannot beat camaraderie and friendship. The points with which people can relate to can become the most profoundly deep connection which is, i believe, one of the most beautifully enjoyable things life has to offer.
Sitting there made me realise how lucky myself and my companions are. We've been allowed to cultivate friendships with such depth and scale without any outside influences stifling this meeting of minds. A deep love surrounds all my friends here. Everyone looks out for each other. If someone needs help, their friends literally fall over each other to come to their aid.

In an increasingly volatile and unpredictable world, love and compassion on this scale really gives me hope. The fact that people are still growing up adopting love, respect, friendship and camaraderie as their core values means that all is not lost for us - at least from my perspective anyway.

So, after this amazingly successful weekend, i'm sat at work with an immensely content feeling that life is good. Life will continue to be good as long as we all want it. If life is not currently very good, then make yourself a situation where it can become good again. If that means moving away to greener pastures, then so be it.

I trust you all had equally amazing weekends :)

I agree. There's always hope. Life is beautiful even with all the ugly.

Exactly. Life sucks, it's not anything new. But it only continues to suck if you let it.

Despite that I got my wisdom teeth out of Friday... yes I actually did have a great weekend! I saw two amazing movies and saw my best friend after she'd been gone for two weeks.

My weekend was pretty good.

I saw two sisters of mine that I had not seen in about 10 years.

Nice post, karadan. Yep, as often as I think that I want to be alone and away from people at times, there's nothing like good friends and fun to boost you.

And congratulations, Loffler, on your engagement! Set a date yet for the wedding?

That sounds like the greatest party ever. Seriously, a party in the forest? In the UK? I wish I was there.  :(
