It's not big news, and the study only looked at microscopic amounts of water locked in minerals, but I don't think the Creationist spammer Pahu should get to monopolize the topic of the Moon here.  ;)

"New Evidence Supports Theory That Moon's Water Came From Asteroids" | The Science Explorer

QuoteIn order to investigate the source of the moon's water, an international team of scientists compared the isotopic ratios of hydrogen to deuterium, or "heavy hydrogen" from samples brought back by the Apollo missions, with the ratios found in comets and asteroids. They then calculated the amount of water and heavier elements that could have been delivered by either of those objects.

"[The hydrogen isotopes are] like a fingerprint or a barcode for where water may have come from in the solar system - these different types of objects have different hydrogen isotope compositions," Jessica Barnes, a planetary scientist at the Open University, who co-authored the research, told The Guardian. Comets, which form far out in the solar system carry water rich in deuterium, while water formed closer to the sun has more hydrogen.

The BBC also has a good story on this, and the full paper is available for free on the Nature Communications website.

Well I never. People actually read that shit. I just thought it was a new account of the poster that sometimes pops in with a bunch of copy pasta, style was the same.

Well, I didn't actually read any of that nonsense, it's not worth wasting the energy to get even a couple of neurons firing.  ::)

That's very plausible, just look at how many uncountable craters are on the moon's surface. :P
