You'd definitely want to avoid sashimi then.

So it can just be a fancy name for a lump of rice? I don't know if I would like the bland rice version too though, there's just something fishy about sushi.

Sushi is sticky rice that has been dressed with sushi-su/tezu which is a mix of rice vinegar, sugar and salt than prepared with other ingredients into small decorative servings.

The rice is always wrapped around something -- usually raw fish, but not always.  One place I went to also wrapped their rice around a variety of different vegetables, and sometimes egg.  I was esp. fond of the pickled green beans.

I agree with the first one as the over-all winner -- make that flour fly!
