I didn't know where to put this, but since it's research-oriented it can go here. This is a TED talk on the nature of disgust and how it affects our politics and, perhaps more significantly, our sense of morality. I've known how disgusting imagery has been used in association with undesirable practices or people  - speaker and psychologist David Pizarro uses the example of how Jews were compared to vermin and filth in Nazi Germany - but seeing the research on this effect is even more thought-provoking. Puts the colloquialism, "cleanliness is next to godliness" in a whole new light.
