Get your tats out for the lads...

I would like to get a tatoo of a rooster somewhere on my body. Perhaps a cockfight, or a nopal.

I get Recusant's post and the scars telling the story, of course he was gored by the bull that Hemingway passed on and I was merely pecked on by a cockatoo, it's still similar in principle.

Tornado on my right arm.  Got it in 2003 in Germany.  Drew it myself.  Includes a farmhouse, silo and tree.  There are two cows and a car flying around in the tornado.

One of my hobbies is stormchasing.  I've been doing it since I got my driver's license, 18 years ago.  That was a year or two before the movie Twister came out, and before it became so popular.

I do not regret it.  I do want more.  I think my next one might be Leviticus 19:28.  "Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print or tattoo any marks upon you: I am the Lord"

I really dig the irony of a tattoo that says that.

What would people that have tattoos say the pain is similar to?

Like being stuck with a needle 86,400 times (I did the maths).

Across the top of my back the first hour was OK but as the artist retraced his needle to colour-in, the second hour was quite uncomfortable. At worst it was maybe as painful as having sunburn lightly sandpapered.

Do it Fester, so I can live vicariously through you.  ;-)

Crow, I'd say at first, the pain is similar to a bee sting (provided you aren't allergic, of course!).  I have 7 tattoos, and almost all of them are over bony spots, but the one that goes from shoulder to shoulder and over my spine definitely hurt the worst, with the one below my left clavicle being a close second.  I also have tattoos on each ankle, one on my wrist, one on the back of my neck, and one on the top of my right shoulder.  Like someone else said, the vibration of the needle against bone is what really hurts.  A lot of people say the outline hurts worse than the fill, but I feel the opposite, personally.  And none of the tattoos I've gotten hurt as bad as getting my nipples pierced.

When I get a chance, I'll have to add the details and photos of my stuff. ;-)

I have a skull tattoo, but unless my friend who has a proper camera shows up with it and I remember this thread at the same time, chances of me posting a pic of it are rather slim.

Homer:"No! Faith is what you have in things that don't exist. Your awesomeness is real."

Don't have any tattoos yet, but I'm considering one that I've been thinking about a lot.
Something with an hourglass to signify the fact that life is short.
I was inspired by this tattoo, maybe something similar with the scroll reading "Life is not forever" Not too similar though, I want something original.
