My uncle used to tell me this about religion and politics:
"Chew it, but don't swallow it."

^ Excellent.

My pirate grandad, Black Tom Postule, always used to say, 'When casting about Southerly in the dog latitudes in an easterly tornado, take care not to confound your snaffling blocks in the mizzen tops'l halliard or you'll be mungled astern before you can say grusset.'  I always found this to be sound advice.

Personally, I have always found the answer lies in the soil.

On the other hand, History never repeats itself.

Perhaps the only real wisdom is to work it out for yourself.

Ha!  You remember Arthur Fallowfield.  I make no bones about it - I'm looking for someone to love.

Maybe my use of the word 'grusset' reminded you of Rambling Syd Rumpo, who was the sucessor to Fallowfield when Beyond Our Ken changed to Round The Horn.

I doubt it!  The first was just FSM-type pyrit talk.  The second one refers to vintage British  radio comedies which you unfortunate colonial rebels won't have heard.

Spot on. Those of us of a certain vintage can  hitch an instant trip back to our youth by listening to the re-runs on Raduo 4 Extra.

I record every RTH they play, but I'm afraid Beyond Our Ken seems weak in comparison, and I've given up listening.  I also record all the Goons.
