Annular eclipse on may 20th... Overcast.
Todays transit of Venus... Overcast.

I hope you all had better luck! If anybody has photos, I'd love to see them.

Same here: I'll be no help in the photo dept.   :(

I was all set to make a big production out of the transit. I had:

- 8" Celestron SCT Telescope
- Huge white board on which I would project the images of the Sun and Venus (I filmed the last full Solar Eclipse this way - it's beautiful)
- Large, open field in which to set up
- clear skies (for once)

Went to set up the scope and board and could not find the toolbox which holds all of my astronomy gear, including the 3 VERY ESSENTIAL bolts which connect the telescope and mount to the tripod!

Looked everywhere in the house. It's been in my office closet for years. Gone. Two hours looking. No luck. Wife was at work, so I couldn't contact her to ask her if she'd moved my gear.
So, I got nothing to show for the transit.

The tool box? Oh yeah, my wife moved it into a closet in our basement (no one, not even she, knows why), on top of a set of shelves, where I couldn't see it.

No biggie, I'll get the next transit, right?

Oh man, that really sucks. I would've liked to have seen the pictures and/or video. Bummer about the bolts.

Wow McQ! Thats horrible.

I'm very jealous of your telescope! I would love to see the video of the last eclipse you were able to capture (or any other photos/video you might have).
