Write a poem! It doesn't have to be serious, but for the purposes of this thread, try to keep it within this format:

line one: 8 syllables.
line two: 7 syllables.
line three: 8 syllables.
line four: 6 syllables.

I'll go first!

The sun be drawn across the spheres,
giving light to fighting seers.
Remember fast the light that shines
all through the inky brine.

Sorry, not writing poetry following some template. Not how The Asmo rolls. Don't really do single verse stuff either...

But feel free to look up my older stuff - I have been known to post some on occasion. They are probably still here somewhere.

EDIT: Well, DANG! It appears some of the old stuff got purged. Will re-post upon request... If I can find my hard copies, that is

Counting syllables is not my style, I just like sing-songy poems.

I tried...nothing came out.

Here's another one:  ;D

Her stockings taste so warm when I
press my tongue between her thighs.
But lights then drive up gravel drive,
"My boyfriend! He's arrived!"

I guess I was feeling a bit pervy with this one. xD

Well, what do you know! This thing is still alive...

It has since been modified slightly to improve language, but I have no idea where my hard copy went. I do remember changing "No-one will answer your prayers" to "No-one can hear your praying". Forgot the other changes.

Will ignore all formal requirements and introduce an element of abrupt bathos for the connoisseurs:

My parents were in constant contact with Jesus,
Stuck his photograph on the wall.
        They paid him protection money
So that no evil would befall
         Them.

Some ideas are so stupid only an intellectual could believe them (Orwell).

    The Antevark, however, is
    The other way around.

I love this!  ;D
"We've thought of life by analogy with a journey, with pilgrimage which had a serious purpose at the end, and the THING was to get to that end; success, or whatever it is, or maybe heaven after you're dead. But, we missed the point the whole way along; It was a musical thing and you were supposed to sing, or dance, while the music was being played.

No format...just a poem:

Your words a whirlwind
Igniting my essence
Seduce me...

Famished eyes longing
An arm length away
Reach me...

Nails linger on my skin
My heat radiates
Caress me...

Dew upon your lips
I desire
Kiss me...

Waiting
Please - no longer
Love me...

Alas, I am under no illusion that the above will ever happen to me, but I can fracking write about it!!!...*chucklin*

Aww hell, here's another:

A summer breeze
Stirs her hair
Across her back
My ravishing glare

Satin skin
The moon's light
Pure pleasure sets
During Venus' might

Bodies entwined
On silks fine thread
A feast of pleasure
Inhibitions fled

What would men be
If not for women
Seduction
Fantasy
Are no sin

Enduring desire
Bodies on fire
Nightly treasure
Short lived pleasure

Love - the measure

The essence of the mind is not in what it thinks, but how it thinks. Faith is the surrender of our mind; of reason and our skepticism to put all our trust or faith in someone or something that has no good evidence of itself. That is a sinister thing to me. Of all the supposed virtues, faith is not.

Wow Gaven, heady stuff.

I might try my hand at writing a dirty limerick.

I liked En_Route's poem about paying Jesus protection money.  And of course OldGit's aardvarkery.

Imagine going back in time
To innocence of early years
When you and I were always fine
We weren't bothered by careers

We didn't see the others' pain
One we have not yet had to share
For every loss there was a gain
Ripe to be had by those who dared

That time has passed into a dream
And age has claimed its rightful toll
In spite of dreams and winds of time
My friend, I miss you most of all

We saw blue skies and stormy weather
And rushed to see the world unknown
Back then we were alive together
Tonight we slowly die alone

Just did this one on the fly... Has no name yet and coherence may be missing here and there... Can't be bothered to re-read to check  :P

^^^ I like off the cuff stuff.
If religions were TV channels atheism is turning the TV off.
"Religion is a culture of faith; science is a culture of doubt." ― Richard P. Feynman
'It is said that your life flashes before your eyes just before you die. That is true, it's called Life.' - Terry Pratchett
Remember, your inability to grasp science is not a valid argument against it.

The aardelopes are gathering,
They're planning to attack us.
Their evil jaws are slavering,
They're after Asmo's  ... err ... what rhymes with 'attack us'?
