Every time I have started a new job, the first question asked is what football (soccer if you must) team I support. Which is West Bromwich Albion. I like to see most West Midlands teams do well, though at times, I struggle to stretch that to Wolves.
In the SPL, I look out for Inverness CT, which is the closest team to where my mother is from, though most of my Scottish relies support either Rangers or Celtic.
F1: McLaren at the moment, due to having two British drivers. But I'd like to see Williams competitive again, and hopefully their re-union with Renault engines might be a good sign.
Cricket: Either Worcestershire or Warwickshire, no preference, most the cricket I watch is 5 day test matches.
Rugby Union, I tend to keep an eye on how Gloucester or Leicester is doing. Apart from that, Dudley-Kingswinford.
Rugby League, I will watch England, but don't have a prefered club.
NFL: Pittsburgh Steelers. Nothing to do with bandwagons, my wife has relies in West Virginia.

Yep. McLaren and Williams. My lad spent 6 weeks working at McLaren in 2007 in his second year at Imperial College. He redesigned part of the rear suspension. The geometry wasn't changed but he had to use 3D titanium pattern creation to reduce the weight. He also won a trip to Williams when he was 16, he got to take somebody with him, it was great to see 'Red 5' in the flesh :D
I like team Ford in rally.
Other than that, I do not support any one in particular in any sport. Or rather, it varies from day to day. Usually, the team with the best-looking players. You see, I'm not that into sport itself, so for me it's just the people watching.
Sand volleyball. Nice.
NFL: Atlanta Falcons
NBA: Couldn't care less
MLB: Oakland A's
College Football: Oregon State Beavers

I was brought up in the Hadlee years, but for the most part NZ are the worst of the serious teams.
Rugby
The world cup is coming to my town this year. Go the All Blacks!
Generally I find watching people doing stuff pretty boring.
Throwing a ball around can be fun, watching some one else do so, not so much.
If there was a sport that involved the clubbing of sport commentators, that would have some appeal.
When times are tough the politicians tell us everything needs cutting back, the premier science organisation included but don't worry the sports budget is sacrosanct. This kind of thing is annoying, give kids a park and a ball but let some one else waste their money on Olympics and elite games.
Four codes of football are followed here with religious zeal by people who never even played the games, I don't get it.

Pretty much Baseball. Kansas City Royals fan.
I do watch professional bowling however..... just really no favorites.
I like to watch soccer, but do not follow it closely. Love to watch volleyball, but don't follow it much either.
I like curling. No matter who's playing.
/admission :-[
Curling looks like fun. It's a bit like bowls (not bowling) in terms of skill and something that most people could attempt.

Exactly.
There are some curlers who carry quite a bit more baggage around the middle than I do too. Thus, there is hope for me yet in the realm of sports :P

What's the difference between a curler and a zombie?
I don't want to make a mistake and have to hide paperwork and smile at people.

Answer: Tribalism
Yep, just sheer tribalism. Football dates back to the Middle Ages, and back then it would have more resembled Rugby or Aussie Rules Football or Gaelic Football, than Association Football.
In fact the oldest form of football I know is Hallaton Bottle Kicking, which is an annual event in Leicestershire, where two teams (of unlimited numbers) representing two villages knock seven shades of poo out of each other, while using a barrel of beer as the ball.
The oldest professional football club is Notts County, founded in 1862. But the mentality behind many fans of football is from the Middle Ages.
I remember, years ago, listening to a local radio phone in programme, about football, the night before we played Nottingham Forest. A Forest fan came on the radio and said, "We are going to lose to West Brom today, because we are crap, utter crap." He got told of for saying "crap" on the radio.
The next one to phone in was a West Brom fan, he said "They think they're crap? They don't know what crap is! We'll show 'em crap!"
....and we did, we lost 2-0, in one of many games I have seen through the gaps in my fingers.

Walter Hadlee? ;D
In all fairness, I have always considered NZ to be a good, solid cricket team. But I'm still occassionally pinching myself watching England playing 5 day tests. We're awfull at the 50 overs version, but I can't recall a stronger England test match side than what we have now.
Yep, the RWC is back in NZ where it all began back in 1987. The AB's have got a great chance this year, and they're long overdue.
I generally dislike sports other than tennis which I played in school, but I could never make myself sit down to watch it. I make it a point to not watch millionaires run around bases, throw touchdown passes, and make free throws only to strike because they don't make enough. The sports I will watch are hockey, but only if the Detroit Red Wings are in the playoffs, curling and the Biathlon.
Our guy just won the The Tour De France, I didn't watch it but its nice to hear he got there.

Watching the German Grand Prix ATM. Bloody amazing!
I hate any type of car racing. It's so bloody boring. Just a bunch of idiots going round and round. I prefer football, a real man's game.
