hi i was in another forum and i saw this topic What was the worst thing that a religious person did to you?

my answer was:
well, i am half jordanian half egyptian muslim but i lost my faith long time ago i was working in saudi arabia in a swiss Pharmaceutical company called H.la Roche I got involved with a Saudi girl and while we were driving in the car the Hayaa the religious authority stopped us and asked me who is the girl with me when I failed to prove that she is my wife or a first degree relative they escorted us to their head quarters of course we had the worst time ever insults â€"but not physical-were awful

I was detained in the police station for 1 night then a Saudi man a friend of mine baled me out (of course in Saudi only Saudis’ are allowed to do so)
many things happened but to make along story short I hired a lawyer and fled from the kingdom
I waited for the verdict and the verdict was 97 lashes for (kholwa gher shareyya)as they call it in islam we were doing nothing I wasn’t parked I was driving in the middle of the high way in a small city called mahayel in southern Saudi
of course I didn’t go back I lost my job my furniture and some money…any body here can top that?

I like to hear more of ur story guys

You do know that now is the best time to go to the media with a story like that. If you can get corroboration, you could actually see the responsible parties punished for what they did to you.

I'm sorry you had to go through that, and I can't imagine anything similar, except:
http://www.religioustolerance.org/abo_viol.htm
These are basic statistics about violent occurrences at US and Canadian abortion clinics over the past few decades. The radical fundamentalist pro-life people, instead of legally protesting or trying to get roe v. wade overturned, decided that terrorism was a good direction to head. This has caused over a dozen deaths and over 150 injuries.

The funny/horrible thing is that there is absolutely no information in the bible concerning when life begins.
I want bad people to look forward to and celebrate the day I die, because if they don't, I'm not living up to my potential.

That's awful wadderus - and no, nothing even remotely that bad has happened to me.

The worst thing that ever happened to me (in relation to religion) was being dragged from a nice warm bed to sit in a cold hard pew.

We atheists like to complain about believers in the US, but we obviously have it easy compared to those in the Middle East.  Congrats on a narrow escape, wadderus.

I don't know If my story tops yours, anyways that's not the point. I lost my mother because of religion. Not that she died or anything, she just refuses to talk to me or see me. Haven't seen her in 4 years now. Last thing she told me was : You make me have to choose between you or God, and of course it's going to be God. How great is that !

God should have added an 11th commandment : Thou shall honor your children.

Sorry to hear about your relationship troubles with your mom.

On the bright side, disobedient children were stoned to death in the bible, so at least she didn't take it that far.
