(Dagbladet): When the winter festival Døgnvill will be held in Tromsø in late March, is Sir Elton John (64) among the artists who will be on stage.

However, the American pastor Donald Spitz dislikes that. He is head of the controversial anti-abortion Christian organization "Army of God" and believes the English artist should be excluded from the festival in Tromsø, writes the newspaper Nordlys.

The reason is Elton John's sexual orientation. 64-year-old is gay, and along with partner David Furnish (49), he became father to son Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John (1) 25 December 2010.

- He mocks Christ
In an e-mail sent to city council for business, culture and sports in Tromso, Jonas Stein Eilertsen, Donald Spitz has now given clear expression of what he thinks of Elton John's participation in the winter festival, writes the newspaper.

"The gays Elton John claimed that the Lord Jesus Christ was gay. Elton John will be banned from Skarphallen and from Tromsø because of his mock Christ and all his public anti-Christian bigotry, "said the email, which, according to Northern Lights bears strong signs of having been translated from English into Norwegian by Google Translate .

According to Northern Eilertsen said the following on Spitz 'requirements:

"Tromso is a liberal, tolerant and open city. We welcome all honest people are welcome, regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, religion and sexual orientation. Elton John is a great artist that we are looking forward to the coming of winter Døgnvill. Elton John is welcome to Tromsø! "

Use the power to fight abortion
"Army of God" is, according to Wikipedia, a Christian, fanatical anti-abortion organization, who use force to combat abortion in the United States. The organization should, since the early 80's, have been behind several attacks on abortion doctors and clinics. Among other things, it must have taken responsibility for having planted bombs on seven abortion clinics in Maryland, Virginia and Washington DC in 1985.

The organization should also have been behind several executions of abortion doctors and gays couples.

Sir Elton John is considered one of the world's most successful artists and has sold more than 250 million records. Among 64-year-old's best-known songs are "Your Song," "Do not Let The Sun Go Down On Me," "Rocket Man," "Crocodile Rock," "Something About The Way You Look Tonight" and "Yellow Brick Road ".

In the rewritten version of the song "Candle In The Wind" which he performed at the funeral of Princess Diana in 1997, Elton John World Record for the best-selling single

Wait, Trosmo is in Norway, right?

Why would an American preacher care that Sir Elton John is playing somewhere in Norway?  I wonder if they "protest" wherever he plays?

How freaking embarassing for Americans to have that boor acting like anyone in Norway should even care what he thinks.  *Covers face*

Oh, and speaking of the Army of God, years ago I nominated one of the guys from the HBO documentary about their group "Soldiers in the Army of God" for the website Men Who Look Like Kenny Rogers.

David Irving has been denied entry to Australia, Westboro nutters aren't welcome in the UK.
Such a seriously deluded loon isn't going to see the irony but he is the kind of hate filled person civilised countries deny access to.

That's what I was wondering -- "And this matters to Trosmo, why?"
